Proposed first pc build
Hi I am wanting to build my first pc. I was thinking that if I was to spend the bulk of my money on the CPU and motherboard, and use relatively basic components I could keep costs down, but still keep my options open for upgrading in the future.
Here is my proposed build CPU: intel core i5 2500K unlocked (for future proofing)£163.40 mobo: MSI P67A-G45(B3) read some good reviews and the OC button looks like a nice feature for a novice £99.20 RAM: corsair vengeance DDR3 4GB (editors recommendation in PCUPGRADE magazine) £38.54 GPU: ATI sapphire HD5570 GDDR3 1GB (low bandwidth but cheap) £53.15 PSU: Storm Silent LPJ19-25 500W Power Supply (Does this have enough connections for all the proposed kit?) £16.67 Optical drive: Sony AD-5260S-0B 24x DVD±R £14.99 HDD: 500GB Seagate ST3500413AS Barracuda £28.31 Case: Coolermaster Elite 330 Black/ Silver Mid Tower Computer Case £27.58 Any feed back on either the compatibility of the above build or any suggested upgrades or down grades would be very appreciated. FYI sticking to a strict budget of £500, my old 22" hd ready technika tv from tesco will act as my monitor for now. I'll be mainly be using it for low end games to start with, then upgrading the GPU and going for high end gaming |

I would stay away from that MSI board. Go for an Asus P67 board.
Not sure on the power supply. You want to stick with Corsair (not the builder series), Seasonic, or Antec. Stick with a Western Digital Cavair black hard drive Sata III. Power buttons tend to break on that case as well. Not sure if they have fixed the issue. |

With that budget, I'd recommend you go without a video card to begin with, then add one later. The Sandy Bridge "K" series along with the Z68 chipset performs just about as well as that cheap video card you chose, and you need to put a bit more money into your other components to ensure quality. This comes to about 498 quid including VAT:
