P67 NF200 gaming build
So it's been awhile about 2 years XD since I've posted... This and that, and before I knew it, I realized my computer was getting slow for me...
So... this time spending more money for a build this is what I've came up with. Just want to hear some opinions as it's not finalized as of yet. ASUS P8P67 WS REVOLUTION LGA 1155 Intel P67 / NVIDIA NF200 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard $259.99 sli (2x)EVGA SuperClocked 012-P3-1572-AR GeForce GTX 570 (Fermi) 1280MB 320-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card $719.98 CORSAIR Professional Series AX1200 1200W ATX12V v2.31 / EPS12V v2.92 SLI Certified 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply $279.99 Intel Core i5-2500K Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz (3.7GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor BX80623I52500K $224.99 (2x) G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL7D-4GBXM $125.98 Western Digital Caviar Black WD1001FALS 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive $84.99 Noctua NH-D14 120mm & 140mm SSO CPU Cooler $89.99 subtotal $1,797.89 (due to change, maybe add insurance etc) Now the case, I'm gonna use my Antec Twelve Hundred full tower, buy a smaller case for my old comp. I got optics, keyboard, monitor, mouse etc etc. so what do you think? Since this is a gaming rig (for bf3, me3, and anything from e3 xD) I don't really gain that much performance boost going i7, even with the nf200 chipset. I don't plan to go more then 2x sli so no need for x58, a bit cheaper xD ummm any options for air cooling? I don't really wanna try liquid, on this rig. oh side note, all pricing from newegg

Replace that G.skill ram with Corsair, Crucial, Kingston, or A-Data. Everything else looks fine.
Why such a huge cooler? Are you going to be overclocking it as far as it will go? |

Replace the ram like glc said, and you really don't need that much power. You can save some money with a lower power unit and then use that to jump to the I7-2600k that does game better.
Newegg.com - CORSAIR HX Series CMPSU-1000HX 1000W ATX12V 2.2 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Modular Active PFC Compatible with Core i7 Power Supply That will handle any overclocking you want to do as well. AnandTech - The Sandy Bridge Review: Intel Core i7-2600K, i5-2500K and Core i3-2100 Tested The i7 makes a sizable difference in some games. BTW on the ram I would get 2x4gb sticks instead of 4x2gb.

I have no problem with you overkilling on the power supply - it's your money! All a pair of 570's really needs is a 750.

oh... XD see i thought maybe... just in case. so g.skill not so great? lol i'm not really picky about ram, i guess i'll jus reconsider getting the dominator series.
yes OCing is likely. yeah... so I don't really see myself getting i7 on a 1155, if i was going x58 for sure (well no other real option xD) the performance gain isn't enough for me to warrant buying a i7. I just don't really see that great of a performance gain. for that extra 100 dollars. i do want to save some money. ummm isn't single rail better then 2 rails for psu? |

If you want Corsair, get Vengeance, not Dominator.
