Custom Build - PC randomly turning off (Possible Overheat)

My brother and I built a PC a about 2 months ago and as of late it has been randomly turning off without warning.

It has happened while playing minecraft and during WOW.

His chip set is a AMD Phoenom II x4 B60 processor.

He was messing around on the boot up screen and he unlocked all his cores. Not knowing what it really meant. (as do I as this point)

I downloaded a few temperature monitoring programs with no real luck.
Realtemp - Did not support my chipset
Core temp - does not show temperature of the cores for some reason, like it couldnt find them.

I noticed the fan over the CPU does not line up 100% with the air hole cut out on the case.

At this point, I not too sure what to do...
Can I disable the cores to original factory settings?
By unlocking cores, would I have to add extra cooling fans?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi plasticslug. I have some limited experience building pc's (all that I do have is thanks to help from people on this site), but I'm far from being an expert. I know that there is more than one thing that can make a computer unstable.

The only time I experienced a similar problem, my power supply was the issue. My computer would run fine for a while, then just switch off. Maybe the power supply was faulty, or maybe the aging circuitry of my pc just needed more juice than it used to, but I installed a slightly larger power supply and everything was great.

That's about all I can offer for input, and it might not have anything to do with your problem. At least it's one thing you could try if you have access to another psu.
