Need help on a new build sandy bridge?

So i need help from you guys. This is my configuration. Please have a look and suggest me any change. CPU: Intel i7 2600k Mother Board: Asus Maximus 4 Extreme Ram: Corsair dominator GT 12gb 1600Mhz PSU: Corsair Enthusiast Series TX850 V2 850 Watt Power Supply GPU: Palit GTX 580 3gb Hard Drive:Hitachi DeskStar 7K3000 2TB HDS723020BLA642 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s DVD drive: LG Electronics 24X SATA DVD+/-RW Internal Drive CPU cooler: Antec KUHLER H2O 620 Water Cooling System I read somewhere that i can't install triple channel memory on sandy bridge. please help me Thank you |

My two most pressing recommendations would be to switch out that Palit GTX 580 for an EVGA or Asus. Their customer service and products are top notch.
Here are examples: EVGA Newegg.com - EVGA 03G-P3-1584-AR GeForce GTX 580 (Fermi) 3072MB 384-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card Asus http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814121429 Secondly, Hitachi drives are not know for their reliability. Go with a Western Digital Black drive. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136792

No, 2600K's and the motherboard you chose are dual channel setups. They use DDR3 RAM in pairs.
Socket 1366 CPU's and motherboards are triple channel. There is no overall advantage to 1366 systems. It is not clear whether or not you have already purchased your parts. If not, I would reconsider a number of them. Let us know so the experts can put together a better build for you.

hey man_war,
You should not use that RAM with that motherboard. Newegg.com - ASUS MAXIMUS IV EXTREME (REV 3.0) LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Extended ATX Intel Motherboard If you go into details under the "Memory" section. You can see that it tells you it only has 4 physical slots for memory and is a dual channel board. Do you absolutely have to have that mother board? Or would you rather have that RAM with a new motherboard? If I posted the wrong motherboard, my apologies! Make sure to give us links to your parts as well so we make sure we are looking at the same type of specs. Let us know, Hippo EDIT: David explained it better, lol! I would recommend an Asus P8Z68 Pro motherboard instead. The best ram setup is four 4gb modules of DDR3-1600 ram, the best deal is Corsair Vengeance, as long as the heatsinks clear your cooler.
There is no advantage to a $350 P67 motherboard. The Z68 chipset has enhancements that will serve your needs better. |

Might want to wait for glc to reply on this recommendation before you buy it, but I would try these things.
Motherboard: Newegg.com - ASUS P8Z68-V PRO LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard RAM - 2 sets of these: Newegg.com - CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 |

Maybe now re-list your 9 basic parts. You will need an OS.

Parts look good, do you have a computer case that you are going to use?
You also should factor in the OS, although, I don't know what computational fluid dynamic programs run on! You probably already have that figured out, haha. |

Your build will allow you to add a second graphics card in the future. Looks good to me.
Plus, Newegg.com - Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit - Operating Systems |
