We are not fans of Tiger Direct here. Their customer service is lacking, and they sell a lot of distressed merchandise.

The only SSD's I really trust are Intel, and 30gb is nowhere near big enough for an OS and installed apps.

You can't put an Intel processor on an AMD motherboard.

The Corsair CX series power supplies aren't that good - get a TX.

Samsung hard drives aren't that reliable, get a WD Black.

There is no advantage to 1866 speed ram - all you need is 1333, or if you are overclocking, 1600.

You shouldn't need that Firewire/USB card or that sound card.

I like both Newegg and Amazon. Newegg's customer service is excellent and most of their prices are very competitive. Amazon almost always has the best prices. For a first time builder you are probably better off with Newegg. Make sure you know what you want because they do charge a 15% restocking fee.

Gaming with Ubuntu?????? Is your heart set on that case? If so, buy it from TD, Newegg only has the orange one.

Here's a system without a case for less than $1500 - add a 3rd party cooler if you feel you need one, try it WITHOUT a soundcard first, you can always add one later. The motherboard has 2 onboard Firewire headers, 6 USB 2.0 ports and headers for 6 more, 2 USB 3.0 ports and headers for 2 more. The power supply is adequate for adding a second video card for SLI. No speakers, if you really need them, get something better than those little crap ones you linked.

Newegg.com - CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W ATX12V v2.2 SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Compatible with Core i7 Power Supply

Newegg.com - ASUS P8Z68-V PRO LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Newegg.com - Intel Core i7-2600K Sandy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo Boost) 4 x 256KB L2 Cache 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor BX80623I72600K

Newegg.com - CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMZ8GX3M2A1600C8

Newegg.com - Intel 510 Series (Elm Crest) SSDSC2MH120A2K5 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Newegg.com - Western Digital Caviar Black WD2002FAEX 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive

Newegg.com - LG DVD Burner 24X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 8X DVD+R DL 24X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM Black SATA Model GH24NS70 - CD / DVD Burners

Newegg.com - EVGA 012-P3-1571-KR GeForce GTX 570 HD w/Display-Port (Fermi) 1280MB 320-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

Want to save 90 bucks? Get a i5-2500k instead. The i7 doesn't give you anywhere near $90 more performance in games.
