Replace the Ripjaws ram with Corsair, Crucial, Kingston, or A-Data. 1333 speed is all you need unless you will be overclocking.

If you can afford the i5-2500 the jump in gaming performance is pretty significant.

I've made some revisions, mostly a bigger case and the switch from AMD to intel.

The Vengeance is a better choice because it's 1.5 volt, but you really don't need anything faster than 1333.

I was kinda looking for something with slots for both mouse and keyboard, I don't intend on buying new ones... At least for now, but I will consider those.

There are no Z68 boards that have two PS/2 ports - and there are continuing issues that have been plaguing the P67 chipset. If you absolutely MUST have 2 ports in the $150 range:

Eh, I guess I can buy a new mouse or keyboard so thats fine.
I'm gonna go with this one. Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GA-Z68X-UD3-B3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard But I am wondering about the other one, aren't DVI/VGA/HGMI ports and such normally on the graphics card? Z68 chipset supports the K Sandy bridge which has integrated video and lets you overclock it.

You can buy PS/2 to USB adapters so you don't have to worry about what your motherboard does or does not have in that respect.

The Intel will give you no advantage that you will ever feel over the AMD 965 as long as you are using a high end gaming card. Save your money and stay with the AMD and put more money into a better graphics card!! I would drop down to a Phenom 840 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103921 and go with either a a GTX470 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...%20%28Fermi%29 or even better an ATI 6870 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814161369

I my opinion I would think it is okay to list facts and if that also happens to persuade people to your way of thinking then so be it.

Its not a fact at all David, that Intel with 460 will not outperform an AMD 840 with a GTX470 or an ATI 6870, we need to give people the best value for their money when they come here looking for a specific build. I have seen many people get in trouble in the past recomending AMD when an OP listed an Intel in his initial build!!

Would this
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...D=z20vca7jgz7g Be better than this Newegg.com - MSI N460GTX Hawk Talon Attack GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card I know nothing about Radeon. And the switch to intel was based on a higher budget personally. Last edited by iLi3kCa3k; 06-22-2011 at 12:04 AM. |

I wasn't arguing your point, I agree with you.
Just saying I see nothing wrong with listing facts about another brand or type etc, which is exactly what you did. People make the best decisions when they have the most information.

Have you looked through the rankings/prices in Tom's Hardware? This may not give you a firm answer but it will give you a feel for which are the best/fastest cards in that price category.

To the OP, 80-85% of the load gets handled by the GPU (Video Card) when gaming so you need to put your money first in the best video card possible then apply the money towards a CPU, memory and a fast hard drive. Quote:

Same cards specification wise. There is a big difference in the quality of who manufactures them.

Ah. I'll go with this one the other one then.
I'm probably looking at around $870 with shipping. Last edited by iLi3kCa3k; 06-22-2011 at 01:06 AM. |

Let's put the AMD/Intel argument to bed.
Best Gaming CPUs For The Money: May 2011 : May Updates You are both correct. The exact processors in question aren't listed, but similar ones are, and as you can see, AMD wins at some budget points and Intel wins at other budget points. |
