Something to check as well is if the disk drive is correctly working. When you insert a disk do you hear it spin-up? I just had a disk drive that lit up and opened/closed its tray and was detected by the motherboard, but it would not spin-up or read a disk and I got an error along those lines.

It might be worth a try to use a known-working disk drive to test that it is not the disk drive that is defective.

There could be something wrong with the media. Did you burn it yourself?

what was the file format of the download trial? I am thinking you may have not burned the disc correctly.

This is the windows i burnt
Windows 7 ISO x86 and x64 Official Direct Download Links (Ultimate, Professional and Home Premium) « My Digital Life

I can't tell if the disc is spinning ill have to check when I get back from work as I have no time now. I heard maybe the hard drive could be not working as well. I bought both brand new and the first thing I did was put them in my pc.

What program did you use to burn the ISO image? Downloading and copying the iso file on a DVD will not work, not that you did that, just saying in case.

Could have been a bad download, did it come with a chechsum?

It does not sound like the disc drive is spinning the disc. Is there anyway I can find out if it is or not?

Edit: On the disc drive the light flashes for 5 seonds then goes completely off.

I do not have one. The dvd drive in the computer i'm using right now has the old big ribbon connector. Which my mother board does not support.

I know for sure it's not spinning the disc as I opened and closed the tray and tried out different stuff and the disc was always in the exact same position when I opened the tray. Could it just be a defective drive? or would there be another reason for it not to spin the disc?

It is an ISO, are you making sure it is burning on the blank DVD as an ISO?

Well the file ends in .iso and on imgburn I'm selecting write image file to disc. When the disc is done burning it asks if I want to install windows 7.

Very possible, even likely, that you have a bad drive. I would expect that the disk would be in a different position each time you open the tray if it was spinning.
