Compatibility?

Hi!

I was looking to showing my about three of my friends a PC build that would be cheaper than they might have thought, (all of them xbox gamers moving to PC's, w00t) so I created a list. But this is my first time doing so, as my newest PC was chosen by my dad, (since he has build like 6 or so.) So I was just wondering if the things I chose would actually work together.

Then, the most confusing thing for me is choosing a motherboard, so if I could get some help finding a ATX board that would support SLI in the future, which is something I know I would have liked, but don't have.

PSU:

Newegg.com - Antec EarthWatts EA-650 GREEN 650W ATX12V v2.3 SLI Ready CrossFire Certified 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Suggestions are welcome, plus any better deals, though I don't think they will be purchasing anything really soon, so deals that end soon wouldn't really help. And I know I left out a case and OS, I just thought that should be up to them, for looks.

Thanks for all the help in advance!!!!!

What is your budget? Which applications do you plan on running?

They would be gaming, (Steam, probably TF2, Civ 5,) and I'm looking to keep it around where it is on price for those components right now, about $700.

Lower the CPU to An AMD 945 and get the ATI 6950 insted of the Nvidia, with gaming it is all about the Video card!

I would get this motherboard if you can justify the extra $20 Newegg.com - ASUS M5A99X EVO AM3+ AMD 990X SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard its an AM3+ and I believe will work with the next generation AMD processors, it also has a better chipset and it is an Asus which is the best.

Thanks!

I didn't really know about ATI, since my dad has one and he doesn't like the Catalyst (did I spell it right?) driver or something. And his card keeps locking up on him, and I have no idea what card he has.

I appreciate your dad's input but you might want to try it yourself, nothing wrong with ATI, both Nvidia and ATI make great video cards, I think at this time you get more for the buck going with ATI.

One question though: everything I choose on the original list WOULD have worked together, right? Just making sure I can choose things that would work together instead of spending hundreds of dollars on functional paper weights.
Since I am hoping to get into computers as a career.

HOWEVER - the motherboard YOU chose is not SLI-compatible, the only AMD boards that are have Nvidia chipsets or the new 990 chipset that Khalil listed. You also need a stronger power supply for SLI, if you go to SLI Zone - Gaming PC, Gaming Computer, Build a PC there is a list of certified power supplies. ATI/AMD has a similar list of certified Crossfire power supplies.

I know where your dad is coming from - I love ATI/AMD video cards but I hate the Catalyst. I never install the CCC, I install ONLY the drivers.
