How much is your budget? What will you be using for watching the recorded shows? What type of TV service do you have?

Well this is a must, if you want to do it right. Give us your budget, I have built a lot of them.

Ok lets say 600.00 I checked that card and appears to have no remote. It looks to be wireless, will it work with a regular hd antenne ?

No limit, just want the best, now you say $600?
What device are you going to be using to view the recorded programs on? A HDTV with a HDMI input, or what? |

The Ceton and HD Homerun tuners are worlds ahead of what you would get through Hauppage or the like. If youre comfortable using Linux, I highly suggest MythTV, its probably the best DVR software Ive used, and its natively supported by the HD Homerun. I run 2 of the older HD Homeruns with a MythTV back end on my server, and various Myth TV front ends scattered about the house, everything works great. The TV Guide in MythTV works great for scheduling your recordings, plus you can watch other shows while things are being recorded. The Atom barebone systems with the nVidia Ion chipset make awesome MythTV front ends, and theyre rather cheap.

A Dish DVR. You can install a larger internal hard drive on your own if you wish. I don't know if Dish DVR's are available with a port for attaching an external drive for storage expansion.

I have a DVR and did attach an external HDD for a while but I don't really need more storage. I'm just looking to get rid the other boxes.
