Help with a psu

My neice has an Athlon 64 LE-1620 2.4GHz Hp system. She wants more pc. She doesn't have much money. Looking at maybe 300 -350 cash.

I'm looking to put this:
Newegg.com - ASUS M4A785-M AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 785G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
Newegg.com - AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor HDZ965FBGMBOX

in that:
Micro Center - PowerSpec DM-387 mATX Slim Computer Case 497099

I need help with a PSU.

I'll be reusing the drives and ddr2 memory from the older system. Installing XP/sp3. We don't have a license for 7.

Also open to other options. If anybody has any. We're upgrading from a single core cpu. She needs a case(really wants a slim) maybe sfx?, power, cpu, and mb. I'm trying to stick with ddr2. We'll have four 1gb sticks to use.

I'm not real sure if I can do much better with the budget. 300-350
She's not a gamer. She's a heavy internet user. Likes multiple windows. Open to any and all idea's.

That case appears to come with a TFX form factor 275 watt Allied PSU. I don't trust them. You also should think twice about putting a 125 watt CPU into a case that small with that low end of a PSU.

This should fit your budget:

Newegg.com - IN WIN IW-BP655.300TBL Black Mini-ITX Desktop Computer Case 300W Power Supply

Newegg.com - ASUS M4A88T-I Deluxe AM3 AMD 880G HDMI USB 3.0 Mini ITX AMD Motherboard

Newegg.com - AMD Athlon II X4 640 Propus 3.0GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM3 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor ADX640WFGMBOX

Newegg.com - Kingston 4GB (2 x 2GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1333 Notebook Memory Model KVR1333D3SOK2/4GR

Thanks alot. I was concerned, cuz I've never put a small unit together. First I didn't trust the psu(never heard of it) and second, I wasn't sure about the wattage needed for the components I selected. I was just looking to replace the psu. I sure didn't think about the processor putting out too much heat for the case. Thanks.

I figured one of you guys might steer me better anyway. I'm just really happy with my cpu. I'm sure she'll be happy though, especially since we're just over the low end.

I usually build AMD anyway, mostly due to funding. I was kinda wondering what an i3 build might look like? I tried and kept wanting to go with an i5, and was seriuosly blowing the budget. Or is AMD just the beiter choice at this price point?
I think I've seen you say that before.

Plus $75 for the case, bringing it up to $320. Another $60 will be needed to get into a quad core. Your call - I personally would blow the budget and go for the i5, but if you are comfortable with the AMD, go for it.

Make sure the motherboard and the case supports the devices you want to reuse.

Incidentally, Seasonic makes an excellent TFX power supply - I just put one in a HP Pavilion Slimline to replace the stock 220 watt Acbel that got taken out with a power surge. 300 watts for under $50. It has some serious power on the +12v rails - 18 amps on each of 2 rails. I'd trust it with a strong half height video card.

Newegg.com - SeaSonic SS-300TFX Bronze 300W TFX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply - Power Supplies

Option 1:

Newegg.com - IN WIN IW-BP655.300TBL Black Mini-ITX Desktop Computer Case 300W Power Supply

Newegg.com - ASUS P8H61-I (REV 3.0) LGA 1155 Intel H61 HDMI USB 3.0 Mini ITX Intel Motherboard

Newegg.com - ADATA 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model AD3U1333B2G9-DRH

plus the quad core = $380 correct? I'll have to see if she wants to go that route, I doubt she has it. But for 30 bucks more I'm sure its worth it.
Which cpu would I order if she wants it?

Not to worried over the drives, both are sata,The hdd maybe only 1.5 though.

I really think the quad's gonna help her out the most. I'm really not partial to either AMD or Intel. Just want to get her the most for her money.

GLC will the psu in the iwin case handle the quad okay? Is that why you brought the Seasonic into the equation?

If she just can't afford it, I thik Ill steer her towards the AMD propus build. Whatdya' think? Good plan?

Intel Core i5-2300 Sandy Bridge 2.8GHz
Newegg.com - Intel Core i5-2300 Sandy Bridge 2.8GHz (3.1GHz Turbo Boost) 4 x 256KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor BX80623I52300

sounds like a good plan too me, if she can not afford it. Nothing wrong with that AMD set up at all. The PSU is fine for either build in the IWIN but the seasonic makes a great PSU, I would leave it in the back of your mind if the IWIN fails in the future. Good to know you can find a replacement.

Inwin power supplies are made by FSP if I'm not mistaken - the one in that case should serve you well.
