A good thermal compound?
I am between these 2 different compound products. Which one should I go for? I know the Artic Silver 5 is very popular! But I dont feel like is really worth the $10 I am sure there is something close to it in quality.

According to glc, the G751 is good stuff and I trust his opinion 100%. I have not tested it yet. I did just test some Antec Formula 7 Nano Diamond and it was impressive. Ordered the G751 and will be testing it in the future.

I was wondering if and when someone might try industrial powdered diamond....which is the best heat conductor of all.

Isn't that what jdebs post mentions?....unless its just called that and not actual diamond.
I did find this with a Google search.... http://www.heatsinkfactory.com/ic-di...m-p-16605.html It would be interesting for someone to test the diamond compound against the silver compound. Last edited by David M; 07-27-2011 at 07:21 PM. |

I think I will try this stuff next time instead of AS5.
The guy in the article could not get AS5 to spread thin. That is more of a user error than a problem with the product. I have always found it easy to spread it very thin with a razor blade. |

I think the guy in the article had more problems working with the IC7 instead of AS5. I have been looking around and never really heard of people having trouble with the AS5. But I didn't fee like the AS5 was worth the $10. Now that I read this article it has me thinking against the IC7. Also lets keep in mind there's not many reviews on the IC7. But so far a couple have succeed with it. I just don't want to trow out $15 and it ends up being a bad product.

I had no problem spreading it (Antic) but I use saran wrap pulled tight to my finger and spread it that way. Whatever, it is thermal compound, I am sure all three are very good. I did notice improved temp reading with the Antec however.
The people having problems spreading stuff probably bought it from Tiger Direct and it is 5 years old

No way! Tiger would never sell old distressed merchandise with lipstick.
