Cool Realtime 3D Rendering Workstation - Where to start?

Hello All,

I know it has been quite some time since my last post here, hope to see some familiar faces around -
My signature reflects to the last time I believe I've logged on here :-)

So here is my question -

I've never had to build a PC with such requirements, and have no idea where to start - what graphics card, cpu, etc.

It's not a super high end build, but it has to be better than mediocre - I guess better than average ;-)

Thanks all for the help,

Frank

1. Budget?

2. Software being used?

3. Are you expecting to game with a workstation as well?

I need to ask the customer, i couldnt get in touch with him today to find out what he uses.

I just want to keep the budge realistic, ive always built gaming pc's and honestly havent built one in about the last 2 years so im a bit out of the loop. But i know the graphics requirements for gaming is different than that of this type of software so im not sure where to go with components. So i cant put a number on the budget.

No gaming will be done, strictly a work pc.

Thanks!

I like the AMD 8 cores for those type of machines. They work extremely well and are very reasonable in price. You can make money without killing your client! Figure out how much he wants to spend and I will put together a nice list for you.
