buy new motherboard or upgrade cpu?

I have found an old dell 2350 that I would like to upgrade to play The Witcher 2 and Star Wars: The Old Republic when it is release.

With these specs, should I just buy a better motherboard or upgrade the cpu in the old mobo?

That computer will never play the witcher 2, the motherboard does not have AGP or PCI-Express slots on it.
It has 2 PCI slots I believe and no PCI video card can handle a game like that.

The Witcher 2 Miminum System Requirements:

■OS: Windows XP SP2 / Windows Vista SP2 / Windows 7 (32/64-bit)

■Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2 Ghz or AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+

■Memory: 1 GB Windows XP / 2 GB Windows Vista and Windows 7

■Video Card: 512 MB RAM, supporting Pixel Shader 3.0 (Nvidia GeForce 8800 or ATI Radeon HD3850)

Recommended System Requirements:

■OS: Windows XP SP2 / Windows Vista SP2 / Windows 7 (32/64-bit)

■Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad or AMD Phenom X4

■Memory: 3 GB Windows XP / 4 GB Windows Vista and Windows 7

■Video Card: 1 GB RAM, supporting Pixel Shader 3.0 (Nvidia GeForce GTX260 or ATI Radeon HD4850)

I would not put a dime into it. Not much upgrade room. Max memory is 1gb, power supply is 200w, board is a 400Mhz. bus.

So I should gut out most of the parts and upgrade with a whole new motherboard and things?

You will run into issues with the front panel wiring, you will need a much biggger power supply.

The whole thing is worthless in my opinion, it should go to recycling, I recommend you start from scratch, nothing on that machine will be worth using with new hardware!

You can go with something like this for $30 and build a system around it Newegg.com - Xigmatek ASGARD II B/B CPC-T45UC-U01 Black / Black 0.8 mm SECC / Aluminum and Aluminum Mesh Bezel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Give us a budget and we will make recomends accordingly.

No, that Zotac will probably be a lemon when you get it. I think you should save about $600-700 then come back and see us for some recomends.
