New Laptop (Acer? or?) - Suggestions

My Lenovo Thinkpad T60 (that I've had nothing but problems with through the years) fried its motherboard, took the screen out and damaged the HD. It's not worth putting the money into so now I'm in the market.

I did a lot of searching around and though I really liked the Thinkpad's trackball built into the keyboard, I find little to no laptops with that feature. I found a lot of Acer laptops but I always looked at them as the generic brand. I have several of their monitors but never used one of the computers.

My budget is preferably less than $600 but flexible for awesomeness
At least a 15" screen
250/300gig HD or bigger (Hoping 500 if budget allows)
2 gig memory (I'll upgrade from newegg later)
NO HP!! I hate HP with a passion from past experience

Not looking to game with it but I do a lot of graphical work, HD quality video and multi-tasking for my job. Anyone see any good deals out there or recommend certain brand/model combinations? Thanks!!!

I saw that TigerDirect has some good deals going on with some Sony VAIO's and Asus computers...

Asus hands down makes the best laptops on the market, I used to sell Lenovo, Acer, Tohisba and a few other brands. Dropped them all, I only sell Asus now. Quality, durabilty and excellent support.
