First Build.

Hello, was looking into building a PC plan to get the parts in the next week unless I should wait IE something amazing is going to change in the next month or w/e then I could hold off. But I prefer Intel unless AMD will give me the same or better performance for less cost. I will mainly be using it for gaming and well not even that high end gaming mainly like Starcraft 2, League of Legends, things like that and watching movies.

Budget: $3000 includes monitor looking around 30" or little less unless I should consider something else?) Also price includes speakers or would prefer it to.

Country Canada

Build from scratch dislike old computer case and the only thing I could really use from it would be the CD drive but I'm assuming with this budget could afford Blu-ray instead? (could be wrong :P)

Since you have that kind of money to spend get the GTX580 and up your power supply to a 750W
Unless you plan on using virtualization I would not waste money on the i7 and get the i5-2500K instead.

Everything else Jdeb recomended is great, I have 2 of those monitors he recomended and they are awesome.

For the GTX580 I prefer 750W it gives the power supply headroom and less heat will be generated.

Since you have a bit extra to spare, might want to consider maxing out your ram to 16GB. Ram is dirt cheap right now and if you get all your ram right now (same type, matched) it will be easier than upgrading down the road since it's best to run the exact same type of ram together; also 16GB of ram will probably last you a really long time.

Hey Masaki, been a while man! I agree the 16GB is a great idea right now, Ram has not been this cheap in a long time.

ok so up to 16 gig of Ram even though will never use close to that but then don't have to worry for quite some time about ram

So the only thing that would be on the SSD would be Windows and what it comes with? My games be on the HDD? Unless I only have like two games I play dont see why not having those on the SSD as well for load times and then any movies etc on the HDD.

Ps. How loud would that be? and does it have all the fans and cooling that would be needed included already ? Also what options are there for Wireless? I think my router sucks cause anytime i try to use my roommates laptop in my bedroom we're talking maybe 10ft from router through like one wall its a very weak signal. Router: SMCD3GN
Now could the just be the card on her Dell pos laptop or the router or possibly both.

Also lol is it worth getting a soundcard or the on board ones due the job perfectly fine without any real noticeable difference ?

onboard sounds is all you need. The games will need to be installed on the SSD to get the performance benefit. System will not be loud because it uses 120mm and 140mm fans and those generally move a lot of air while still not making much noise.

I'd also recommend buying from NCIX. They do price matching and I've found they're usually cheaper than newegg. Not to mention faster shipping and you can deal with Canada Post instead of Purolator if that is an issue (it was for me at least).

Maybe toss a Hyper 212+ in there to let yourself dabble in overclocking.

If you can run a cable to the router, that will ALWAYS be best.

I agree with glc, if you can run a cable to the router that's the best, costs you the least amount and is the fastest/most reliable. If you really need wireless, it will cost you a bit to get a good router and good wireless card. Right now I'm running a Netgear WNDR3700v2 router (Netgear WNDR3700 Wireless N Dual Band Gigabit Router at Memory Express Computers) and a D-Link DWA-556 wifi card (D-Link Xtreme N PCI Express Desktop Adapter at Memory Express Computers) which cost me close to $200. Am using the wireless about 25ft from the router through one wall and the signal is at 96% strength with latency in games within 1ms of plugging it directly into the router.

I think you could get a great router/card combo for much less:

WRT54GL $50, Great router.

I don't remember my wireless card, but it was less than $40.

I know -n is faster than -g, but g wireless streams HD video to two devices and allows me to game on XBox with no lag simultaneously.

For multiplayer gaming, especially FPS games, you don't want wireless anything. Lag = Frag

With that kind of budget get yourself a really nice pair of headphones or a kick-butt 5.1 or 7.1 sound system.

The way ram prices are right now for ddr3(current ram!) ..that's gotta be the best advice this year!

The only thing I would change is get in the low profile Corsair memory to avoid clearance issues if you get an aftermarket cooler in the future.

Blue: NCIX.com - Buy Corsair CML16GX3M4A1600C9B Vengeance Low Profile Blue 16GB 4X4GB DDR3-1600 CL9-9-9-24 Memory Kit - Corsair - CML16GX3M4A1600C9B - in Canada

Black: 2 x NCIX.com - Buy Corsair CML8GX3M2A1600C9 Vengeance Lowprofile 8GB 2X4GB DDR3-1600 CL9-9-9-24 Dual Channel Memory Kit - Corsair - CML8GX3M2A1600C9 - in Canada

EDIT: The white low profile memory is 1.35 V. The Sandy Bridge MOBOs prefer the 1.5 V memory.

You'd need to grab a nvidia 3d vision kit like this: Newegg.com - NVIDIA 3D Vision Wireless Glasses Kit Model 942-10701-0003-004 and change the monitor to a compatible model such as this: Newegg.com - Acer HN274Hbmiiid Black 27" 2ms 3D Full HD HDMI WideScreen LCD Monitor w/Speakers 300 cd/m2 ACM 10,000,000:1 (unless you plan on connecting your computer to a compatible TV instead).

If you can live with a slightly smaller montior, there is a 23.6" Acer monitor with 3D support for a bit over $300: Newegg.ca - Acer GD235HZbid Black/orange 23.6" 2ms(GTG) Widescreen 1080p 120Hz 3D-Ready LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 DC 80000:1

Go with the case you like the most. Its the part of your computer you're going to be looking at the most anyway! As long as you stick to good brands any CPU case is going give you everything you need.

If you can deal with a 23" instead of 30" then this is the 3d monitor I would go with.
NCIX.com - Buy LG D2342P 23IN 3D LED Backlit LCD Monitor 1920X1080 5ms 5000000:1 VGA DVI HDMI 3D Ready - LG Electronics - D2342P-PN - in Canada
If you want around 30" then go with the acer hn274h recommended earlier.
NCIX.com - Buy Acer HN274H 27IN LED LCD 1920X1080 100000000:1 VGA DVI 3XHDMI 2MS 3DVISION W/ Glasses - Others - ET.HH4HP.001 - in Canada

If you don't mind ordering from Amazon then this is also a good option for a 32" Its 699 once you add it to the cart and is led backlit. If I had the money to spend and wanted 3d this is the rout I would go.
http://www.amazon.com/Sony-BRAVIA-KD.../dp/B004HYG9XC

Personally after using my Panasonic 32" tv for a monitor I would not give up screen real estate for 3d but like I said that's just me.

The first monitor you linked to (23" LG) is not compatible with nvidia 3d vision, nor is the Sony Bravia TV, so neither would be an option if planning to use the computer for 3d. Here is a link to Nvidia's site for 3d vision system requirements: 3D Vision System Requirements

You don't have to use nvidia 3d vision to game in 3d, you use the glasses that come with the tv and use the tv's built in emitter, and download either the DDD driver or IZ3d driver then do your thing. The lg that I posted is a passive 3d screen and is not as sharp as the active displays however it will allow you to get into 3d for a cheaper price and the glasses are much cheaper.

Also if he is just wanting to watch movies then he doesn't need 3d vision either, just a card with blu ray playback support, a program like powerdvd 10, or buy nvidia 3dtv play software, and a blu ray drive that is at least 2x. The sony is compatible with the tv software because your not using nvidia's glasses or emitter.
