1. The Green drives are not too good for a primary drive, they are designed to be storage drives. A Black is preferred, but a Blue can be used if you are really budget-tight.

2. We recommend Corsair, Crucial, Kingston, or A-Data ram, and you don't need anything faster than DDR3-1333.

Spend the extra $25 and get the 640 Quad Core instead of the Rana 3 core, it makes a big difference with a lot of applications.

Will he really need all 4 cores? I mean it's a "gaming" rig, and he only surfs and some other light stuff. No graphic or video editing.

Regarding processor, ideally you'd want to step up to a Phenom II X4 900 series to get access to the L3 cache that's included on them as they increase gaming and application performance, though that would increase the price by about $35. Is a quad core really necessary right now for gaming? Yes and no, yes if you multi-task or play games that can take advantage of extra cores, no in that most games only use up to 2 cores at the moment. In the long run quad core is definitely worth it.

Regarding the video card, I would definitely stay away from GTX 460 SE, especially at that price; the GTX 460 SE is a much slower version of the original GTX 460 since it has 288 shaders instead of the 336 shaders found on the original. This is probably want you want to get: Newegg.com - EVGA 01G-P3-1370-TR GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card.

I'd also really recommend getting the Caviar Black over the Caviar Green, performance difference between them is pretty big and you'll notice faster loading times with the Caviar Black.

If you really need to cut costs on the build in order to get better components, you can always opt for a less fancy case which would save $30-$40 and still function pretty well, something like this would work:
Newegg.com - COOLER MASTER Elite RC-310-BWN1-GP Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
If you really want to keep the cost of the comp

I'll configure the prices and give the quad core a look.

Thing is, he still needs to buy a monitor and the operating was not included in it. So the budget is tight, but he's hell bent on that case.

If you guys could suggest a better cpu for the same or cheaper it'd be great.
