Hey there,
So just to start off, it would be great to know what type of budget you are working with and what games and at what resolution he intends on playing them at. I can already tell you that RAM is not compatible with that motherboard. Edit: Also, does he intend on overclocking? You will also need an Operating System, just make sure to factor it into your budget. You should get Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit OEM. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16832116986 Edit2: I should add, that the Memory might work, but if you are starting from scratch it is FAR from ideal in that motherboard. Overclocked RAM can be very finicky and when it is stable does not add much to overall system speed.
Newegg.com - CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Low Profile Desktop Memory Model CML8GX3M2A1600C9 850 watts might be overkill unless you plan on getting a second card or lighting up your case. The Corsair HX series PSU's are good ones. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...0&Tpk=hx%20750 See how good your onboard sound sounds. Onboard sound has become excellent making sound cards much less worth purchasing unless you are an audiophile and have an audiophile system. Be sure your WD Black is one with 64 megs of buffer and is 6Gb/sec. Not all of the Blacks have this.

Thank you for the replies
![]() Budget is about 2400$ or 13000NOK (Norwegian Currency). The games to be played would be: Battlefield 3 (once its out), Battlefield 2, Counterstrike Source, Guildwars 1 / 2, Battlefield Bad Comany 2, at full resolution (1920*1080). The Western Digital Black Caviar drive has 64 MB of buffer and is 6gb/s Windows 7 home premium 64bit (OEM) will be used on this computer. Ram is changed to Corsair Vengeance (2*4gb) We would like to keep the 850 PSU in case he decides to upgrade with another graphics card. We will remove the soundcard from the list, if its needed we will install one later on ![]() Is there anything else that could be wrong? Is the Vengeance ram you are getting the low profile version? The standard version's heatsinks may have issues clearing the aftermarket cooler.

It all looks good to me.
If you are purchasing a 6970 you will not need a second graphics card unless you are adding a second or third monitor. |

This is just a slight option, but if your main purpose is gaming, then the 2600k may be overkill. The 2500k is one of the best for gaming, and the upgrade between the two is basically nothing(gaming aspect wise). So you could save roughly 100$ there and maybe put it torwards something else. Just an option.
Heres a link to the benchmarks between the two. AnandTech - Bench - CPU |

Hi, Thank you for more advice
![]() I have read the posts and changed the cpu from 2600k to the I5 2500K, because this computer will mainly be used for gaming. It will most likely be a multiple screen setup so I will leave the psu alone, incase we upgrade. The ram is now the low profile (thanks for pointing that out, I missed that part) ![]() Heres an update: Fractal Design Define R3 Black Pearl 699 KR Corsair HX 850W PSU 1399 KR I5 2500K 3.30GHZ 6MB S-1155 1629 KR Noctua NH-C14 699 KR HIS Radeon HD 6970 2GB GDDR5 (IceQ) 2895 KR ASUS P8Z68-V PRO, Socket-1155 1349 KR Corsair Vengeance™ DDR3 1600MHz 8GB CL9 499 KR Lite-On DVD/Blu-Ray Reader, iHOS104-37 490 KR Windows Home Premium Engelsk 64Bit OEM 760 KR Western Digital Caviar Black 1 TB 599 KR Total: 11018 KR about 2050$ Anything else that should be changed? ![]() Best Regards Roza |
