Problems with new build.
Hi all. Just built our first PC with some help from the forum, but of course had trouble starting it up so wondering what suggestions you may have.
Specs: Intel i7-960 3.2 GHz Quad Core ASUS Sabertooth x58 ATX Intel motherboard Antec 900 case PNY Quadro 2000 video card 2x4 GB CORSAIR Vengeance 240 pin DDR3 1866 SeaSonic S12II 520 Bronze PS After building, the first time trying to start the computer everything started up and all of the fans were spinning, but there was no output to the monitor. No beeps, but I think the motherboard might not have a speaker? Then we took the motherboard out and built it with 1 stick of memory, the CPU/fan, and video card. Interestingly, when I was unscrewing the board from the case, the 3 screws closest to the front of the computer stayed attached to the stand-offs and they came off with the motherboard rather than staying with the case as the other 6 did. First time we tried to start it out of the case the same thing happened, no beeps, no video output. I took that memory stick out and inserted the second and it started (still no beeps, but all of the lights on the motherboard came on in sequence and the monitor started up)!!! I assumed that the first stick of memory was dead. We built the computer back into the case but still with just the working memory stick and video card, and it didn't start again. I switched the video card to the 2nd of the PCIe 2.0 x 16 slots and it still didn't start. Also interestingly, the video card kind of needs to be forced forward to be connected to the case, and it looks like it might be pulling out of the slot a little bit, so we unscrewed the card from the case and let it sit how it wanted to in the housing and it still didn't work. So my thinking is the one stick of memory was DOA, and the case is shorting on the motherboard somewhere? Not quite sure what to do now. Thanks for any help! Dan |

It works! Just needed to have the video card reseated and started before being attached to the case. Still unsure about the potentially dead memory, will have to check the bios to see if it is a settings issue.

You should have no problem with putting the video card in with the case. Are you using the standoffs that came with the case?
In terms of the memory, you are not using the right one for a Bloomfield cored CPU and X58. I only use 1.65V Triple channel Ram. This is the memory I have used for that board when building a workstation.
