Newly Built System, Trouble Booting from CD/DVD

Just built a new system. Already updated the BIOS using the q-flash bios update utility. The problem comes when I try to boot from my cdrom drive (Asus Blu-ray/DVD Drive). The screen shows:

Loading Operating System....
Booting from CD/DVD

...then hangs

I am fairly certain the problem is not the optical drive because it was able to run the CD that came with the motherboard.

There were two VGA outputs from my graphics card, does it matter which one the monitor is connected to?

Does it matter what IDE channels the hard drive and optical drive are connected to?

Are there certain BIOS settings that are necessary for my optical drive? There isn't much online about my situation, I'd appreciate any help you guys could give me.

i5-2300 quad core 2.8ghz
corsair RAM 4GB 1333mhz
seagate 1TB 5900rpm
asus blu ray/dvd drive
powercolor radeon HD 6850 graphics card
Ultra 500W psu

IDE channels? Aren't all your drives SATA? The primary hard drive goes on the lowest numbered SATA port on the Intel controller and the optical should go on the next lower numbered one.

Is your SATA controller set to IDE, AHCI, or RAID? Exactly what kind of operating system CD/DVD are you trying to boot with?
