New build, review and recommendations please!
I am looking to build a new gaming PC since my old PC, being 6 years old, just died on me. I am looking to keep in the $700-$900 range. Will be for primarily gaming. Will be playing Battlefield 3, the old republic, CoD. Here is what i have so far, any advice and recommendations would be appreciated!
Case: NZXT Phantom Motherboard: ASUS P8P67 PRO CPU: Intel core i-5 2500k CPU cooling: Antec Kuhler H2O 620 Liquid Cooling System Hard drive: WD 1TB caviar black RAM: CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB GPU: ASUS EAH6850 DC/2DIS/1GD5/V2 Radeon HD 6850 PSU: RAIDMAX Blackstone series RX-700AC 700W Last edited by avedo0613; 08-19-2011 at 07:48 PM. |

Replace the motherboard with an Asus P8Z68-V, P8Z68-V LE, or P8Z68-V Pro.
Make sure the Vengeance is DDR3-1600 and 1.5 volt. Low profile version recommended. Change the PSU to a Seasonic, Corsair TX, HX, or AX, or an Antec Earthwatts or HCG. Make sure the WD is the SATA 6.0 version with 64mb cache. |

I take it your going to be Overclocking since your wanting a water cooler?
If so and you just have to have water I would recommend the corsair H100, its the best closed loop water cooler on the market right now. If you don't mind going air then I would recommend the NH-d14(if you can fit it) or the thermalright silver arrow. The 3 coolers I mentioned all have right at the same cooling potential, so its really just personal preference as far as the one to choose, as well as what is easier to fit.

You are spending more money on the processor than the video card. When building a gaming rig your priority should be getting the best video card for the money.
Overclocking your processor will do little to nothing when gaming, however spending more money on a video card will give you much better results in gaming. I recomend going with this Video card Newegg.com - ASUS EAH6950 DCII/2DI4S/2GD5 Radeon HD 6950 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card and if that puts you out of budget then you might want to consider lowering the processor to Newegg.com - Intel Core i3-2100 Sandy Bridge 3.1GHz 2 x 256KB L2 Cache 3MB L3 Cache LGA 1155 65W Dual-Core Desktop Processor BX80623I32100

I will look into doing that, I'm not opposed to going over my budget a little if necessary.

I agree, for gaming get the fastest video card you can afford.
