Help a newbie out with the first build

Hi! This will be my first build and its a little overwhelming at first. Any suggestion would be great. I know I want the nzxt H2 case and a amd six core but I have no idea on where to go from here. Products or brands you would suggest? Or even similar configurations you may have. I dont really game much at all but I'm a computer science major and want something that could run efficiently. I'm not looking to shovel out a whole lot of money but willing to do it right if it needs it. Please, any help would be great. Thanks!

-Looking to spend anything south of $1000 but around $800 would be great.

-Also, any bundles you could suggest? I'm open to any processor, I just want the most overall power for my buck.

Please list your price, and what you will be using it for. Also, a 6 core AMD isn't as good as some newer quad cores like the Intel 2500k (relatively same price)

It all depends on what you are using it for. If you have software that can actually utilize 6 cores, then the AMD is fine. If not, then you are better off with a faster quad core.
