Multipurpose Rig-Intel $$2500

Looking to build a new rig. It will be used for a lot of burning/ripping/serving files (movies including BR and music) to others in the house. General office use as well as gaming (if I can find the time). Ive started with this list and would like advice on any changes or additions.

Thoughts on caching vs just getting a 120GB SSD and using as boot.

Thoughts on i5 vs i7. May overclock a bit.

Thanks for any input.

Get an Asus motherboard. If you want speed, definately get an SSD for OS and programs. But you probably should get at least 128GB and go with Intel or Crucial.

1. Replace the Asrock board with an Asus.

2. Replace the Ripjaws with Corsair Vengeance - low profile if you are going to use an aftermarket CPU cooler.

3. Replace the Samsung drive with a Western Digital Black with 64mb cache, SATA 6.0.

That ADATA SSD is the perfect size for caching, but you may want to get a SATA 6.0 SSD. I do trust ADATA as well as Intel.

Any advantage to i7?

Aftermarket cooler if Im not serious overclocker?

Power supply adequate if I have two cards?

Suggestions on TV turner card with cable card capabilities too?

I think the i7 is a tad overkill if your not rendering images.

Stock cooler is fine even with moderate overclocking

I prefer this one if you want to make a serious home entertainment system Newegg.com - Ceton InfiniTV 4 Quad-tuner Card for Watching Digital Cable TV on the PC, PCI-Express x1 Interface

I do not see why you would want anything more than that 6970 but to answer your question, you will want to go with the Seasonic X series. That is a great power supply you chose though.Certified Power Supplies

The Corsair AX series PSU's are the same as the Seasonic X series.
