What will this computer be used for?
It looks like you plan on using the onboard graphics? I do not see a graphics card listed. For an inexpensive build I would change the following... Consider a more reliable PSU. This one will work fine provided you do not have a graphics card. Newegg.com - Antec VP-450 450W ATX 12V v2.3 Power Supply RAM. Chances are you do not need 8 gigs. Newegg.com - CORSAIR XMS3 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model TW3X4G1333C9A G You will need an operating system. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16832116986 This brings you to $451 before tax and shipping. Cut back on the CPU to bring you within your $400 budget. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115094 The adjusted price is now $397 before tax and shipping.

I'm afraid I don't really agree with your choices, David - I don't have any reliability data on the Antec VP series PSU's, I'd be a lot more comfortable with an Earthwatts or HCG. The "T" series processors are low power (35w) primarily for a mini-ITX system, if you are trying to get the 3000 series video in an i3, it's the 2105 or 2125 you want, or in an i5, the 2405S or 2500K.
The Corsair ram is okay as long as it's 1.5 volt. I'm a bit leery of the Crucial Ballistix. If you are trying to build a gamer you WILL need a video card, and you will need to increase your budget. Even the 3000 series video is only equivalent to a Radeon 4550, and it will share system memory. If you are going to use that motherboard, it doesn't have an IDE controller - your HDD and DVD have to be SATA. |

Well I did want to stay with an I5 because I do want a quad core , I also wanted to stay with 8G as I do music editing and online website email marketing which requires me to use Adobe Dreamweaver and Photoshop and Auditions. These programs are normal a little buggy if you don't run them on a
good system. As for the power supply I do want a power supply that is video card ready as Ill be getting one in a month or so but cant fit it in at the moment. Could you recommend a power supply that's video card ready that will fit my needs best ![]() Thanks |

....Newegg.com - CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX650 V2 650W ATX12V v2.31/ EPS12V v2.92 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC High Performance Power Supply Given you will be doing Dreamweaver and Photoshop, I would get 8 gigs of RAM. I don't know which budget RAM glc prefers. It looks like your budget will need to increase over $400 if you want to accomplish your goals. Last edited by David M; 09-15-2011 at 11:54 AM. |

This PSU is on sale and it's a good one:
Newegg.com - Antec EarthWatts EA-500D Green 500W ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply Ram: Newegg.com - ADATA Premier Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model AD3U1333C4G9-DRH See if you can squeeze this into your budget to get the better onboard video: Newegg.com - Intel Core i5-2500K Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz (3.7GHz Turbo Boost) 4 x 256KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor BX80623I52500K If not, the 2400 will do the job. |

If you want some more power supply headroom, this is actually cheaper after rebate:
Newegg.com - Antec EarthWatts EA-650 GREEN 650W ATX12V v2.3 SLI Ready CrossFire Certified 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply |

If you are not going to be gaming, you probably will not even need a video card. However, here are the best 2 cards in the $150 range:
Newegg.com - ASUS EAH6850 DC/2DIS/1GD5/V2 Radeon HD 6850 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card with Eyefinity Newegg.com - ASUS ENGTX460 DirectCU/2DI/1GD5 GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card |

If you NEED USB 3.0, you will need a card. What do you need it for?

Ya that's just the thing GLC i don't think I need it , Just like I don't need a video card you were right this thing already looks awesome. I have a high resolution apple monitor hooked up and it just looks great.. well other then a wireless adapter which Iv already ordered I think I'm all set. I did put my processor in turbo mode in my bios because my mother board came with that feature not sure if thats safe to leave it like that or not but all seems to work just fine.
Here are pictures of my build Thanks everyone Picasa Web Albums - djradyus - Computer Build |
