$800 Budget

Price range in the title. I know, I've not finished my tower yet. This computer isn't for me though. So, I figure While I'm finishing my build, It's a good time to plan out his. So, I do see the older parts getting cheaper already. So, here's what I know he wants in the computer

Quote:
Western Digital Black Caviar 750GB
Western Digital Black Caviar 1TB
8GB Ram
Intel CPU(over clockable)
ATI graphic card(s)
a monitor(s) that can do 1920 x 1080
Games he's looking to play on this computer is:
Dead Island
Crysis 1 & 2
Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare(1, 2 & 3)
Call Of Duty: Black Ops
BattleField 3
Garry's Mod
Perferibly on Highest graphics(but nothing below Medium)

I'll have him look and see if he likes the items you guys help us pick out. Since I got a bit more knowledge I'll probably have a better input myself. Also, the Monitor isn't apart of the price range. But I'd prefer to stay under $150(for one monitor) if possible. He was talking about wanting eyfinity. Just wanted to make sure no one though I meant nothing over $150 for 3 screens.

Yeah, I know. I wish I could go on a higher budget, but with how much I'm putting into mine. I gotta cut corners a bit on his.

Also! What's the difference between home, profession and ultimate windows 7? I don't wanna buy one because it seems better, and just has stuff I'll never use, that the cheaper one doesn't have.

Professional gives you some advanced networking features that he probably does not need. Home Premium 64 Bit is all most people really need. I use the Pro when they are using it for business. Ultimate is for the eye candy lovers and business users that are looking for advanced data protection, peer client or WAN computers (BranchCache)... I rarely install it on a build. Here is a comparison link, ignore the upgrade title. this just shows you the feature comparison.
Compare Windows - Microsoft Windows

If this is a gamer, I'd cut corners on the CPU, but if he wants to overclock, you can't. The 2500K is the cheapest Intel with an unlocked multiplier.

However, the 6870 is an excellent video card. I would NOT cut that back just to get a 2nd hard drive.

Hmmm. the 750gb like mine is what, $56? If need be, I will go over a little bit for a 2nd drive. Finally got him(he's been out playing all day). So, I'm going to have him look over these parts. Get his opinion, and I guess we'll go from there. Yeah, I know the fact that he wants to learn how to overclock is a bit of a pain on this budget, but like I said, I don't mind going a little bit over because something costs a little more. I'm just trying not to hit $900. If I can stay between $800 and $900 I'll be good. Really trying to stay as close to $800 as possible though. Also, He checked it out. Asked if he can get Dead Island on max? I told him I don't know, pulled up card benchmarks, and other then that, he said it sounds like we're good to go, Now I just got to wait for you to get done with your computer, lol.

The 750 is 59, 1tb is 79, 1.5tb is 99, and 2tb is 139. ALL of them are Black SATA 6.0 with 64mb cache, and all of them are on sale.

Hmmm. Do you know how long they're on sell for? I seen that too. So, that's why I'm asking. I mean, they go back up by the time I got the money to he'll have to deal with a 1.5TB if they're still this cheap. I'll spend the extra to get him 2 HDDS

No idea. That's why we ask people not to plan a system out till they have money in hand and are ready to buy.

Yeah, i didn't wanna plan out to far ahead. -.- but he's been bugging me constantly. If things change, they change, once I got the money for his. I'll go over everything, and have you guys help me see if there's any other options before I make the buy, but at least he's happy he has a good idea of what his is going to have.
