Dream Build?

If money is no option, and you had to buy your parts from newegg, what machine would you build? Please explain why you chose the parts you did.

Because I want to build a new computer, that's top of the line, so I want to see what others would build.

Can I come right out and say it?...and hopefully I will not be considered rude. If you don't have the money then don't waste peoples time, to be very blunt.

But let me explain what I mean....

If someone has an idea of the ultimate computer and wants to design one on paper then fine, that is their choice to spend their time like this. But at least come right out and state whether this is an exercise or an actual build in order to be fair to people who are here to help others and not here to design "ultimate" computers which will never be built.

There are plenty of builds online where an individual, a computer magazine or a computer website built an actual desktop with a no limit budget. These builds are well over $10,000.

I'd be happy to spec out a build for you, but you MUST provide a budget and a proposed use so I don't waste my time.

If this is just a dream, please let me know and I'll move this to General Discussion.

Thanks, GLC.

I plan to spend around 5 to 6K. I just build a PC, that you helped me with, but I'm selling it and building a new one.

I rarely game but I plan on doing video rendering/graphic design and will probably use it to render 3D as well.

Okay, you are looking for a professional workstation. How many terabytes of storage do you need and what software are you going to be using? Do you need monitors in that budget, and if so, how many?

I'm going to be running Acronis Backup with Adobe CS5 Master Collection/CyberLink Power Director and as far as 3D rendering, I'm not sure yet.

1-2TB should be enough internal, thinking about going external for my backups. I would need monitors, I would prefer 3 but 2 may work.

For that kind of money you should be looking at a dual AMD 12 Core system (24 core) total. If interested I will spec one for you.

I highly recommend you build it outside the case and test everything before you put it all in the chassis.

Special instructions for memory before booting.
Only put in 1 memory kit in each bank then start it, go into bios and read how much memory you got, then shut it off (completely as in turn the switch to off on the actual power supply), wait about 3 minutes then add the 2 other kits, turn the switch on from the power supply but dont boot for 3 minutes.
Boot it, you should be good to go, enjoy mamoth processing power!!!
