PWR_FAN connector on Asus P8Z68-V LE Mobo

Hi all,

i have a question regarding a 3-pin PWR_FAN on this Asus P8Z68-V LE mobo

here the pic from the Asus User guide Instagram

It does not provide any further information.

What or which cable should I plug into this connector ?

Thanks in advance.

It is meant for any of your case fans.

No it is NOT - that's ONLY for a tach wire coming from the PSU to monitor the PSU fan. Don't plug a case fan into it. Most PSU's don't have a tach wire.

Sorry, glc is right. I was confusing what you said for a standard motherboard case fan connector.

You can power a case fan with a four pin Molex connector. You just need to get the adapter for it. Your fan speeds will not be read by the BIOS or by fan monitoring software if you do it this way. I ideally you want to connect your case fans to the motherboard. There are case fan extensions if the ones you have do not reach.

Do not connect a case fan to the PWR_FAN connector. It is only used for monitoring (NOT powering) the internal power supply fan *IF* the power supply has a lead specifically for that which will connect directly to that connector. Most power supplies do NOT.

to make sure i if understand both of you correctly, so if my case Newegg.com - Corsair Graphite Series 600T CC600TM Mid-Tower Gaming Case comes with 3 fans and it provide the cable with 3 pin & molex, I can use them to power my fans and ignore the connectors from the mobo (CHA_FAN1, CHA_FAN2, PWR_FAN) ?

You may use either the Molex or the 3 pin for each fan. You may use the CHA_FAN connectors but NOT the PWR_FAN connector.
