Will this build work?

Hello all! I'm a total "newb" when it comes to building a PC.

I can't even pick parts without wondering if it works.

I used Computer Part Selection For DIY PC Builders - PCPartPicker for help, not sure if its reliable or not but here's the build I ended up playing around with:

CPU: Intel Core i7-2600 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($279.99 @ Newegg)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master RR-B10-212P-G1 76.8 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($24.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Motherboard: ASRock Fatal1ty P67 Performance ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($127.86 @ Newegg)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR3-1333 Memory ($85.00 @ Newegg)
Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda Green 2TB 3.5" 5900RPM Internal Hard Drive ($69.99 @ Newegg)
Video Card: Asus Radeon HD 5450 1GB Video Card ($54.10 @ PCRush)
Case: Antec Nine Hundred Two V3 ATX Mid Tower Case ($99.99 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: Antec 1200W ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply ($216.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer ($25.98 @ Newegg)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional Full (32/64-bit) ($249.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $1234.88

I have a budget of $2,000 and I'm not sure if this build will work out at all or not. Any ideas ;___;?

What are you going to be using the computer for? Does the budget include just the tower, or OS, peripherals and monitor?

It's mainly for gaming, and for school, I need a good working computer for when I go off to University and some of the classes I'll be taking require you to download programs and such. The budget includes everything but a monitor, I already have a monitor.

I figured it'd be unbalanced, it proves I have no idea what I'm doing xD

The external enclosure is for the 2 TB WD Green hard drive which you use as a back-up for your school work, etc. This comes to $1800 with the rest left over for keyboard + mouse.

Here are a few things you can do to save some money with what I recommended:
1) The case is entirely up to you. Look for a mid-tower by Antec, Cooler Master or Lian-Li. You're budget will let you pick just about any case you want.

2) The GTX 580 will let you play any current game on max or near max settings, but if you're not interested in having the absolute best graphics you could downgrade to a GTX 570 and save yourself some money.

3) A TX 650 PSU would be enough to run this system, but I added the TX750 to give you some head room. Downgrade to save some cash.

4) I chose the P8Z68-V Pro, but you could choose the normal P8Z68-V.

5) I included the i5-2500k and the Hyper 212+ if you're interested in overclocking. The Sandy Bridge CPUs are really easy to overclock with the Asus bios, but if you're not going to be overclocking you can drop the heat sink and downgrade the CPU to the i5-2500.

6) The SSD is for your OS+Apps, but its more of a bonus than anything. You could get away without one or even chose an Intel 310 SSD instead.

Also go with a 64Bit OS not a 32Bit.
