IDE to SATA HDD cloning and adaptor questions

Hi, I am asked to helped a friend to clone his old IDE hard disk to a SATA hard disk and to connect it to the IDE port via a IDE-to-SATA adaptor. Does this work method work in terms of cloning and using this adaptor ?

By the way I have the interface hardware to clone the harddisks.

Thank you

Doesn't his computer have any SATA ports? If not, a SATA controller card works a lot better than an adapter.

No, The MB does not have SATA ports.
The adapter I plan to use is this (SATA-IDE bidirectional)

BFG Tech CL-ASI Bidirectional SATA to IDE and IDE to SATA Adapter

It plugs into the IDE port on the MB.

I am thinking of
1) plug this adaptor in IDE #2
2) Clone the old HDD from IDE #1 to IDE(SATA) #2
3) Plug the adaptor+HDD(of course) into IDE #1

Will this method work ?

Thanks

thanks. It works..but not without some issues. Apparently other new hardware added such as an AGP card, new SATA harddisk, multi card reader cum USB ports makes the system unstable which points to a poor power supply.
