Looks pretty good. The only thing Id consider changing is the SSD. The Kingston HyperX 120GB SSD uses the same guts and is $75 cheaper.

Don't you know you are not supposed to waste your money on 2600K's?
![]() 1.65 volt, 1866 Patriot RAM? What are you smoking my friend? Microcenter seems to have very little selection of Corsair 1600 RAM? Is this why you chose the Patriot?

What is wrong with a 2600K? Or Patriot RAM? I actually got DDR3 2000. I usually get Kingston from Fry's and have a cabinet full of 1333, 1600, etc. Wanted to try Patriot. I've never ever had any trouble with any RAM regardless of brand. Lucky I guess. I don't smoke or dip.

I only use Corsair Vengeance Ram with the Z68 boards. They are perfectly stable. I have not tried anything other than Kingston and that was to see if the board would post. Micro Center is a great store. If I was a thief (I am not), that would be my place to break into

You should NOT use anything but 1.5 volt ram on Z68 boards.

Why do I always feel like am a day late and a dollar short when I build something? I've read about the 1.5 volt ram b4 on other boards. Why do they make the 1.65? The box says "designed for Intel P55 Platforms".

The Z68 is not a P55.
You wouldn't have this problem if you vetted your parts with us BEFORE you buy them..... |

What problem? You guys are always so conservative and set in your ways; a good thing I guess. Newegg hung the moon, Gskill ram sucks, WD black the best HD, etc. I vet on Newegg and Tom's Hardware and the products seem to be ok with others. Of course just reviews but everyone can't be right, or wrong.

Anything over 1.65 volts can burn out the CPU. Using 1.65 volts is too close for my comfort.

Understood. I play the cards too close to the vest and take chances in other areas and made it, so I figure why not on a stupid PC. They make 1.65 for some reason. If it smokes the cpu, buy another.

Sometimes these exchanges are pretty funny. This is one of the better ones. Thanks for making my morning.

I think you are taking an unnecessary risk. The memory is not on the QVL, Patroit doesn't even list the board in their memory selector, and most of all it is 1.65v with 9-11-9-27 timings... have fun with that.

I checked Bios and timings are 9-9-9-27-1, and 1.65v on this Sabertooth. I have had it set to 49 all summer and running great. Not bad for a 3.4ghz. I have to pull the lid but I know it's Kingston. I'll just use those modules in my new build and give Mom and Dad a couple of my 1333s. Am anxious to see what the Z68 will do with an SSD with Sandforce technology. I chunked the Patriot and sprung for the Kingston Hyper X after reading for 2 hours. I do vet... At least I use Asus as you always recommend; just buy elsewhere.

True the Corsair Vengeance made for the Sandybridge. I may eventually spring for very high-end cpu plus parts, no matter cost. Retirement is boring at times. For time being am going water cooling with Corsair H100 and my first purchase toward the extreme; accepts the H100 perfectly and I love cable management - I hate tyraps and tucking out of the way so this fixes that.
