The issue is that I have only the ssd drive being recognized. I'm running WD 7 Pro, I've downloaded all the updates and have updated the mb. I was reading in the handbook that to makes sure the BIO's is set to AHCI Mode and that I should download XP Service Pack 3 to allow the computer to recognize the sata hd drives. Is this true or is there something I need to do to get it to recognize the hdd. I did go into the advance Bio's and it did show the ssd, dvd and BR DVD and the sata. But when I go into my computer it only shows the ssd drive? Got any ideas! Thanks in advance for any help.

I went into the BIO Advance and all the drives have the listing of diabled. But I went in and enabled the drives and went out and saved changes then went to computer and it stills show ssd drive only. Have you heard of having to download Win XP Service PK 3 to have the sata drive to work?

I'm guessing you installed Windows on the SSD. In order to see the hard drives in Computer, you have to use Disk Management to partition and format them and assign them a drive letter.

Type diskmgmt.msc in the search box right above the start button. It works the same way as it did in XP.

Ok Intialize Disk window pop up and there is disk O and Disk 1. Both Have check marks in the their boxes, under the window there is a choice of MRB or GPT. The MBR has a dot hi lited in it. Then it has ok! What next? Should I do only one at a time?
I chose to do disk O first. It is now online with Basic listing with 931.51 unallocated. What is next? Last edited by k9bliss; 10-29-2011 at 11:41 PM. |

I right clicked on it and up pops a choice New simple volume, new spanned volume, new striped vol and new mirrored vol. I assume I should pick new simple vol? Sorry about being a pain about this, but once I do one then I can get the other one done without to much issue.
Update, I picked new simple vol and followe ddirection and it worked. So I went and did the other drive and it is done also. I checked in my computer and both are there and set up with new vol letters. Do they sill need to be formatted? Last edited by k9bliss; 10-30-2011 at 12:15 AM. |

They need to be formatted before you can use them. If they are showing in Computer, you can right click on them and format them.
