New Computer for a Friend

Hello again!

A new build for a friend.

He is a gammer, Call of Duty 4, World at War, Battlefield 3, Left 4 Dead...
Looking for some suggestions for improvements and to lessen the cost of the build. Max budget is $1000. Perfer to stay under if we can.

CPU: i5-2500
Newegg.com - Intel Core i5-2500 Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz (3.7GHz Turbo Boost) 4 x 256KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor BX80623I52500

Mobo:
Newegg.com - ASUS P8P67 LE (REV 3.0) LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Ram:
Newegg.com - ADATA Premier Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model AD3U1333C4G9-DRH

PSU:
Newegg.com - Antec EarthWatts Series EA-750 Green 750W ATX12V v2.3 SLI Certified CrossFire Certified 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Continuous Power Supply

Video Card:
Newegg.com - EVGA 01G-P3-1561-KR GeForce GTX 560 Ti FPB (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

Case:
Newegg.com - LIAN LI Lancool First Knight Series PC-K9WX Black Aluminum / Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

OS:
Newegg.com - Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit - Operating Systems

We need a hard drive to take advantage of the sata 6, but does he need the 64 mb cache? I have used the Western digital Caviar Black in the past.

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks!

A Lian Li case is outstanding, but you are on a Coolermaster budget..........

Also, the price of hard drives is absolutely obscene right now, and will be for a few months. Look at adding a SSD to this list later for caching the hard drive using Intel SRT.

That Sapphire card just for gamers, etc., right? Everyday Joe wouldn't notice anything different?

Yep - you don't even need a video card in your new system, Sarge - the onboard Intel graphics will do everything else just fine.

Geez need coffee. In rush to buy didn't even notice about the graphics but thought it said no. Btw, I did cave and ordered overnight from Newegg the Corsair Vengeance you recommended to other feller, but got 16. Why not? At my age, prune juice and Lotto are big deals.

The onboard graphics is in the CPU, not on the motherboard - that's why it says "no". However, the motherboard has video ports. Your P67 doesn't have those.

Yes, you can. However, you don't need to.

Is this a good SSD for the money? Would it be better to go with the Z68 board and the HDD cacheing or go with this and use it as a boot drive?

Newegg.com - Corsair Force Series 3 CSSD-F90GB3-BK 2.5" 90GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Thanks!

Newegg.com - Crucial M4 CT064M4SSD2 2.5" 64GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

The SSD caching uses a maximum of 60 GB I believe.

I was wondering if this would be a good boot drive. Or if cacheing would be just as good?

Sold out.

I agree the Intel 510 series, however a 90gb drive for $100? Does intel have the best ssd's?

Doesn't intel suggest the 311 series for caching? Is there a differnce between going with a SLC vs MLC for caching?
