Memory is running slow
This is the results from my 3D Mark Vantage run.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 470 video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-2600K Processor,ASUSTeK Computer INC. P8Z68-V LE score: P17221 3DMarks I am not sure why my memory is only running at 667MHz. This is my memory Newegg.com - CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Low Profile Desktop Memory Model CML8GX3M2A1600C9 I have it set to 1600 in the Bios. I am sure this is a setting somewhere! |

Since its DDR (Double Data Rate) its actually 667*2 = about 1333. I think most MOBOs actually set ram to that speed as default. You can increase it to 1600 in the BIOS. You should also check to see if the timings on the memory and the voltage are set properly in the BIOS.

Put a load on your system and then see if the memory speed steps up to 1600.

You have to enable a XMP profile in the bios to get it running at 1600. The real world difference will not be noticeable.

I do have XMP enabled in the Bios. IT registers at 1600 in the bios and on cpu-z. I am beginning to think that 3D mark Vantage is reporting improperly. What you guys think? Whats a fool proof way to find out what it is running at?

In CPU-Z, your DRAM frequency will say 800 MHz if your RAM is running at 1600. If this is the case then the reading you are getting from 3DMark is wrong. But as GLC already said, it's not noticeable. The difference in overall system speed between 1333 and 1600 according to an article in Anandtech is only about 1% to 2% in overall system speed.

I wouldn't worry about it.
