Advice on this bundle please
Can you give me your views on this bundle-
AMD Phenom Bundle with Phenom II X6 1100T Socket AM3.. | Ebuyer.com I already have a good Corsair 650 watt power supply and will be recycling my old case, monitor, keyboard, mouse etc. Primarily to be used as a workstation, multi-tasking but with some gaming in mind. As time goes on, and budget allows I intend at least doubling the RAM and upgrading PSU to 1000 watts. Also, advice for a graphics card? I live in the U.K. so the $ cost would be around $429. Thanks for reading. |

Good motherboard and CPU. I am not a big fan of Patroit memory but it should be o.k. I prefer Crucial, Kingston, and Corsair memory. The price seems fair as well. In terms of a video card, give us an idea of your worstation applications you use and a budget. The HD 6950 is a nice card for the money but lets make sure it can take advantage of your workstation applications.

Mainly using Adobe applications, Photoshop, Soundbooth, Dreamweaver. Visual Studio perhaps- some video editing. Games will be FSP's, probably not the latest- just something to take a break and while away my evenings off. The HD6950 looks good, currently have the HD4650 agp card. Obviously no good for this mobo, but has served me well. The 6950 is a bit beyond current budget as I have only just started back in full time work after a spell of bad health and unemployment, so maybe something below £100. Would that be a false economy? Should I go for the bundle and wait 'til I can go for a good card? Usually I go for Corsair memory, but this is the offer in the bundle and will probably upgrade when budget permits. Thanks for the advice- I really wanted to know I had picked a decent bundle. |

Well than you may be better off going with this bundle
AMD Llano Bundle including AMD A6-3500 Socket FM1.. | Ebuyer.com Add an additional 4gb kit at a later date but buy the same memory An HD 6670 as it will crossfire with the AMD "APU" CPU in the bundle giving you better graphics for games. You also are spending less money. http://www.ebuyer.com/284122-sapphir...d-11192-12-20g |

Thanks jdeb. The graphics card is well within budget, especially with the cheaper bundle (which I had looked at). Would it be a good choice GPU to go with the original bundle? I am thinking of future-proofing and replacing a graphics card in a few months would be the way I would be going, or am I mistaken?

Well the X6 1100t is a much better CPU. The HD6670 is a good entry gaming GPU and should perform well with your Adobe applications and better than your current card. I think you would be better served with the X6-1100T combo and a HD6670 when all things considered. The X6 gives you more of a future with applications that take advantage of multi core technology. |

Thanks very much for ther advice, jdeb. I wanted to be sure going for the better cpu with the cheaper gpu (for now) wouln't be a problem. I think that is the way I will go, x6 1100t and HD6670, upgrading to the HIS 6950 when budget permits.
Thanks once again for your valuable and appreciated input. |
