Yes it will if you have an adequate power supply. What is the make and model of the power supply, how many watts?

Uninstall the Nvidia drivers first.

Well a 600W coolmax vs. a 600W Antec are totally different power supply's. Lets get the make and model. The HD 6850 is a nice card but it is 150.00. The best one around 100.00 is the HD 6670. What games are you going to play? The 6670 is an entry level gaming card but may be adequate depending on the games you play.

The best card for around $100.00 is the HD6750: Newegg.com - DIAMOND 6750PE51GSB Radeon HD 6750 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card (be careful as some have slow ddr3 which makes them about the same speed as the 6670). The HD6770 is usually around $110 and has about 10-15% improvement on the HD6750.

Regarding HD 6850 1GB vs 2GB, you'll notice very few areas where the extra video ram will help. If you're power supply is good enough and you can go a bit over the cost of a HD6850, a HD6870 will provide a good boost in performance over the HD6850.

Ive been part of the beta testers fot star wars the old republic that comes out in a couple weeks. What I have got me by on the lowest settings but I still had a lot of lag and almost unplayable with groups.
If I can keep it under 200.00 for a new card that would be great.

Oh and as far as the removing of Nvidia Im actually rebooting from xp to windows 7 so that should clear all that out.

And yea Ill get the make and model of the power supply when I get off work in a few hours. Completly drawing a blank on that right now.

Really appreciate the quick replies

Your good to go (power supply) but I prefer EVGA cards for what it is worth. MSI is probably O.K., I have not had any experience with them. This one has a lifetime warranty when registered, 169.99 with rebate, free shipping

Newegg.com - EVGA SuperClocked 01G-P3-1372-AR GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

The one time I had to RMA a MSI video card, it was painless and prompt. The warranty period is quite short compared to those lifetime EVGA cards.

Great! Thanks a ton for your help.

Now Im looking at my chassis and thinking it might need an upgrade too....LOL Running the old Smilodon Raidmax. Thinking this new graphics card is going to need a little more room and air to breath....lol
