Parts list look OK?

Not knowing what I’m doing, I thought I’d better run my list of parts by some experts.

I’ve always operated on a Mac, but find myself in need of a PC to run stock charting and trading software. Somebody somewhere recommended a pair of the monitors I have listed; and I sort of worked backward from there to build the rest of the machine.

Any glaring errors? Suggestions for better or less expensive parts?

For displaying charts, which are relatively static two dimensional images, you will not need a graphics card. A CPU with onboard graphics processing, like the one you selected, will work. You just need to make sure your motherboard has two graphics ports, one for each monitor.

Motherboard:

Newegg.com - ASUS P8Z68-V LE LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard with UEFI BIOS

Memory:

Newegg.com - CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Low Profile Desktop Memory Model CML8GX3M2A1600C9

SSD:

Newegg.com - Intel 320 Series SSDSA2CT040G3K5 2.5" 40GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Hard drive:

Newegg.com - HITACHI Deskstar 7K1000.D HDS721075DLE630 (0F13179) 750GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive

Use the SSD as a cache using Intel SRT instead of as a standalone. No need for a video card, the Intel 3000 graphics supports dual monitors. You can always add a card later if you find you really need one. Note that you will have to run one of the monitors off DVI and the other off HDMI.

Nice. Thanks guys, that paid for my membership and then some.

So, if the SSD is a cache, then I'd still need another hdd for backup?

Yes, and I'd recommend an external.

The Hitachi drive glc linked will be your operating system and data drive. The Intel 320 SSD will be strictly a caching drive for enhanced performance. You can always add an external drive for backing up the the Hitachi.
