Help an old codger orient himself

Hi all,

I've been out of the hardware loop for a couple of years, and am now looking to configure a new laptop for a friend. He currently has a laptop running XP with a 2GHz Core2Duo and 2GB of ram. The battery is dying and the hinge is broken, and he'd like something a little faster, but isn't looking for a huge performance jump. He mostly does school work and some audio editing for fun (I'm figuring pour a bunch of ram into it just to be safe).

With that in mind, where does a 1.33 GHz Core i5 fit performance-wise relative to a 2GHz core2Duo? What is the C2D's equivalent in "i" language?

Thanks in advance!

-Lefty
