If you can spring a few more $$, get the Corsair psu (modular). You only use cords you plug in rather than having a bunch wadded up. Plus it's a better psu. The psu is the most important of a pc, imo. Also, these guys will have you get a WD (black) versus the Seagate and same price. I have both and used both in parent's and all ok.
Newegg.com - CORSAIR Professional Series HX650 (CMPSU-650HX) 650W ATX12V v2.2 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Corsair power supplies are no better than Seasonic - that's who makes them for Corsair.
With the hard drive prices the way they are, a WD Black is very pricey. However, I don't trust Seagate, I'd get this: Newegg.com - HITACHI HDS721050CLA362 (0F10381) 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive I would not get an Asrock mobo, get an Asus. |

I was referring to the modular aspects. While you're at it, to really tidy up the build and see very few cables, put the Corsair psu with this case - you won't look back. Choose your color - I got white/black. . I can't hear any fans from anything (except when running Linux)
Newegg.com - corsair 500r I'm lucky in that everything Newegg has I can get at Microcenter or Fry's and see and touch b4 buying. Last edited by SARGE; 01-03-2012 at 12:14 AM. |

I would change the motherboard to this for reliability and stability reasons.
Newegg.com - ASUS M5A97 AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS And the CPU to this for advanced autotuning or overclocking. Runs cooler, more advanced instruction. Newegg.com - AMD FX-4100 Zambezi 3.6GHz (3.8GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor FD4100WMGUSBX I do not have a problem with the memory you selected but the Corsair Vengeance is the ticket for stability and tuning these days. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820233196 Last edited by jdeb; 01-03-2012 at 05:20 AM. |

Sure but I prefer the Asus M4A88T-M (use the DDR3 1333 ram. 1.5V) or M4A89TD PRO (same ram as AM3+ board) with that CPU. It will unlock the other cores.
I like the FX for their integration with the 6000 series card and their tuning abilities. With each BIOS update, they get better. They are impressive despite what some of the reviews said. Last edited by jdeb; 01-03-2012 at 11:43 AM. |

Don't get it then, go for the X4 970 . I have not had any complaints. The only problem I had was I needed to flash the BIOS on my first build because the Motherboard had the original BIOS but it was no big deal because I have used CPU's lying around. The other boards I have had the newer BIOS.
I am somewhat skeptical of the reviews because the testing software may not be current enough for the technology but that is pure speculation on my part. Also, my benchmarks were not as bad as some of the reviews with the newer BIOS. I can only go by the builds I have done and the graphics are excellent. The CPU is fast as all get out too in most the applications. I did notice a little slower (hardly noticeable) on older software. Overall, with the latest games, Office applications, photo studio's and a 6000 series card, it has been a great experience. |
