Looking to build my first computer

First I'm not 100% sure on the compatibility of the items I have chosen.

Case- Rosewill THOR V2 Gaming ATX Full Tower Computer Case, support up to E-ATX / XL-ATX, come with Four Fans - 1 x Front Red LED 230mm Fan, 1 x Top 230mm Fan, 1 x Side 230mm Fan, 1 x Rear 140mm Fan
MB- GIGABYTE GA-970A-D3 AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard
Processor- Intel Core i5-2500K Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz (3.7GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 3000 BX80623I52500K
HD- Western Digital Caviar Blue WD5000AAKX 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
Memory- G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL
OS- Windows 7 Home Premium
CD/dvd- Newegg.com - ASUS 24X DVD Burner - Bulk 24X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 12X DVD+R DL 24X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM Black SATA Model DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS - CD / DVD Burners

I am looking for a long lasting, quality gaming system that can play most any game at a decent setting, as well as hold it's own for awhile before needing serious upgrading.

My serious problem right now is $$, if you can spot any easy ways to trim money off this build for comparable results I am more than open to suggestions.
Thanks for your time and help on the matter as I would consider myself an amateur in the building-your-own-pc matter.

You can't put an Intel processor in an AMD motherboard.

You need a power supply.

Avoid G.skill ram.

You need a video card if you are going to game.

If you could post an actual budget, we would be better able to help you balance a good system
