video card for video editing

I'm building a PC for video editing.
Should I go for an nVidia Quadro workstation video card or would a gaming one work just as good?
Is there much difference between the two types of cards?

What software?

Do you game as well?

What motherboard and CPU do you currently have? Z77 motherboard and IVY bridge CPU can make a difference in my recommendation.

Big difference between workstation and gaming cards. Workstation cards do not game very well at all.
