Powersupply Need help.
I have a 650 Watt Seasonic Powersupply and I was wondering what is the most powerful Videocard I could hook up to it without over stressing the powersupply.
I have a I7 860 with an Asus H55 Mobo not sure of the exact model,I want to use this set up to make back up copy's of DVD's I have purchased and keep them on a Harddrive so I can play them from my WD Media player,please understand that I'm not asking for any advice on pirating movies I olny want to make back up copy's. I'm going to be using Pavtube Bluray Ripper because it can use the Cuda Core's and what ever ATI calls there's,I also change the format of the movie as well incase my Girlfriend put's it on her phone and stuff like that and it really convert's fast with my other PC with a 570 Card in it it olny takes about 3 1/2 Minute's and the movie has been converted. Can you tell me what Chipset would be better a ATI or a Nvidia for all out Conversion speed I know that the ATI's are faster gaming card's but I'm not sure if that means it will convert movies faster or not. |

Your PSU can handle any AMD 7xxx or Nvidia 6xx series cards made.

My advice is to listen to GLC. Also, your GPU won't affect file conversion rates, I don't think. Unless you're also rendering something at the same time.

Some software can make use of the video card to do its work.
Pavtube software adds supports to NVIDIA CUDA and AMD APP to speed up the encoding process. |

The Pavtube can Convert a Movies Format that has already been Ripped in 7 Minute's using 100% of an i7 2600k CPU and to me that's way to much.
Now using my EVGA 570 Card it olny takes 3 1/2 minutes,the GPU's in a Graphics Card are way faster at crunching the numbers for converting Video. Last edited by tjw4700; 07-07-2012 at 05:23 AM. |

I guess it's clear the Nvidia cards seem to be faster I guess I may try my old EVGA GTX 460 Superclocked card.
Thanks for the help glc. Quote:

Depending on model number
GTX570 = 480 Cuda Cores GTX460 = 336 Cuda Cores For a 1000.00 bucks you can get 3072 Cuda Cores (GTX690)
