I would wait until he is ready to buy. Then re-post. A lot can change in two months.

I personally do not see what the big deal is about the retina displays. No one could probably even tell the difference from HD unless the monitor was huge, like 50" or something. Not sure if they are coming to the PC, I suppose if there is no proprietary connector and Apple would work.

Get him to join and have HIM post his requirements, etc. Dealing through a 3rd party doesn't work well.

Budget is what he can afford to spend at the time he is ready for purchase. I just built one for a student and he wanted me to quote him early and I told him to wait a couple of months ago. SSD prices have come down, spin drives have come down, ram has come down and we ended up getting him a much better rendering card because he was able to get some money from school for the build which increased the budget allowance. We offer the best components as possible to match the budget. Sometimes the budgets are not realistic. 1700.00 will get you a entry level workstation today. Think about it, some workstation rendering cards are 4000.00 by themselves. I see you listed the main software and that will make a huge influence on the recommendation.

I do not see a big difference in the retina displays or should I say that justify the cost. I look at a HD display a good portion of the time while computing and they are great. However, I spend a great deal of money on my personal displays for color accuracy.

in 2 months everything will change, new boards, new chipsets and prices could drastically change. Look at how the Ram and HD market have changed rapidly. I agree with glc you should have the dude join us and post when he is ready to buy.

When he posts, we are going to need a parts site to look at where he can buy from - preferably in English but I think I can find my way around one in Dutch. We will also need his budget in Euros.

Well i appreaciate the input guys, I also thought that i wasn't going to get anywhere since he isnt ready to buy right now. I guess is one of the rules when building a pc, problem is he doesnt have time and he is not in to building pcs. Im going to help him put it together, i already ask him about resources where he could get the parts from he said he has no idea but will ask around. I still dont understand why newegg has not expand global. Will come back later to update the thread when we are ready. Yesterday i seen some of the ips monitors 23" D models from Dell are currently going for less than $200 on ebay was hard to believe.

It's not that simple, to just go global, there are tariffs for starters. Besides, hardware is not always the same for all regions. Europe has different regulations and standards, starting from electricity. It's best that he purchases his parts in HIS country: it might not be cheaper but it's less hassle and safer in case there's the need of an RMA. If it's too much trouble, let him buy a Mac and he'll be happier and get to work quicker. Building is not for everyone.

The parts he is going to purchase them himself, I am trying to help him come up with the list. I did told him about the MAC but he doesn't want one seems like he is not a fan of apple . We both took the advice of waiting until he was ready and see how much money he will have on hand to spend.
