Autodesk recommends/certifies only Quadro and Fire workstation cards for Maya. Here's my recommendations, $1165 shipped.

Newegg.com - COOLER MASTER HAF 912 RC-912-KKN1 Black SECC/ ABS Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Newegg.com - SeaSonic M12II 520 Bronze 520W ATX12V v2.3 / EPS 12V v2.91 SLI Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Newegg.com - ASUS P8B75-M/CSM LGA 1155 Intel B75 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard

Newegg.com - Intel Core i7-3770 Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.9GHz Turbo) LGA 1155 77W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 4000 BX80637I73770

Newegg.com - CORSAIR Vengeance LP 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CML16GX3M2A1600C10

Newegg.com - Intel 330 Series Maple Crest SSDSC2CT120A3K5 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Newegg.com - Western Digital Caviar Black WD1002FAEX 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive

Newegg.com - ASUS 24X DVD Burner - Bulk 24X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 12X DVD+R DL 24X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM Black SATA Model DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS - CD / DVD Burners

Newegg.com - PNY VCQ600-PB Quadro 600 1GB 128-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 Low Profile Workstation Video Card

Newegg.com - Microsoft Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit - Operating Systems

Reason for Pro: If you want to upgrade the ram past 16gb you need it. If 16 is all you will ever use, then Home is fine.

If you want a different case, that's fine, the one I posted is a high quality case at a good price.

Thank you. Your advise is greatly appreciated I felt lost

Is the 520w plenty of power?

Is Asus the best board over Gigabyte? Is it more user friendly for a new builder?

With that Quadro, you could actually get by with only 300 watts. it's not a power hog at all. I figured you would appreciate a modular unit for better cable management.

That particular Asus is a great business system board. CSM means corporate stable model, it will have long-term support. It's also a great value.

Your initial choices were actually pretty good - I didn't change all that much. It would have been a great gaming machine.

So my first choice would by good for my second build for me. I love the games. Thank you I will look into the parts you gave me and keep in touch when I get the parts and start building.
Is there another forum for when I might run into problems with the build?

I just hope it is not like when you start improvments on the house running back and fourth to the store.Ha HA
Thanks Again

Do this before installing anything in the case:

PROBLEMS with a NEW BUILD? Try This!!

If you have problems, just post here!

When you are ready to get parts for a gaming machine, start a new thread! There are some minor changes to your first list that I'd recommend.
