The only red flags I see are quality motherboard and power supply. You can get high quality for just a little bit more.

You should also use a dual channel kit of ram, not a single module.

Raidmax is junk. To keep the cost down, this will do the job: Antec VP-450 450W ATX 12V v2.3 Power Supply - Newegg.com With a big full tower case, having a modular PSU really isn't that important. |

Okay, thank you for the recommendations.
One question. Will a Radeon HD 4830 work for the time being with this set up? We decided to take the video card out of this current build and use this one. The 4830 is old card I am holding onto and I wanted to give it to him until he can get a decent one. Will there be any issues using this card with the newer PCI slots? Or will it just downgrade performance a little? The only games he wants to run right now is Team Fortress 2, minecraft and Combat arms. I know this card can handle those games with out any problems. |

That changes things just a bit. 450 watts is the recommended minimum for a 4830, so I'd go a bit higher. The BP550 recommended by jdeb would be a better bet than the VP450. A 4830 is very close to a 7750 in performance, but it's only a DX10 card if that makes a difference. The 7750 is DX11.

You will need the screws to attach the motherboard to the case, possibly a screw to attach the video card bracket to the case, and possibly screws to mount the drives in the drive bays. Power supplies usually (but not always) come with screws to attach them to the case. If you don't have the screws that came with the case, you will need some. Motherboards and drives don't come with screws.

One more thing here.
This build is great and I will go with one. One thing. My friend is reall tight on cash. He wants to buy a 1 4gig stick of ram instead of doing 2 2 gig sticks. Then maybe 2 weeks down the road buy another 4 gig stick to make it eight. So he will have to live with 1 4 gig stick for two weeks. He should be fine right? |

I would not recommend Ballistix ram. Too variable and unstable.
It may be built by Seasonic, but I don't trust XFX as a company for customer service reasons. Antec is a quality company and the BP550 is built by FSP. |

Actually the BP550 plus is made by Delta not FSP.

When did they switch? Last I knew, it was FSP. Anyway, Delta is decent too. Channel Well and Enhance I'm not too keen on.

That model has always been made by Delta the BP 350/500 are made by FSP. The companies that do not make their PSU's and are just rebrands are trickey like that. Channel Well makes the CX junk for Corsair not something I would buy or build with. The XFX I listed above is a very good PSU never had a bad one and I use the video cards as well, rebates are a little slow as with usally all rebates but never had a problem with the company. All of their PSU's are made by seasonic.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Still continuing to help my friend and he wants to save up more money. Is there a better motherboard i could recommend him for the 75 to 100 range?

What is the quality of Flextronics? I see that some of the Corsair AX series are made by them.

Thats not bad. Anything with PCI 3.0? Are there any intels aound that price range? We could start thinking about switching to an I3 and he can upgrade processor later. I know its asking alot.....
I have also noticed even the high end AMD motherboards only do PCI 2.0? Why is this? Thanks again. |

Or wait until he has enough money saved up to purchase a 2 x 4 gig kit. That would be most cost effective since your friend would not paying for shipping twice, if shipping is charged. Plus he gets a matched set as Zerk says.

Agreed on the ram.
We switched the ram out with 2 4 gig sticks of coursair vengence. I also switched the motherboard out with a biostar one so he can use a core I3 processor for now and maybe later he can upgragde.
