Do you think the L1A is ok for the case fans and then get I would get 1 H1B for the Heatsink? I'm worried the H1B will be too loud if I have a few of them running.

just posted a link for a fan to check out . thats the H1B, a bit louder than the L1A, but it moves more air.

the L1A would make a great case fan, but youll be sacrificing power for quiet. in an overclocked rig...its important to have as much airflow as possible. have you considered getting some high volume fans and hooking them up to a fan controller?

I have thought about it, but it would be more expensive and I would rather not have to deal with the controller.

You think even 4 L1A's wouldn't produce enough airflow?

Actually under my cd drive I might be able to fit a 120mm fan. What if I had 3 L1A's and 1 120mm fan?

a single 120mm up front along with 2 or 3 L1As for exhaust would be really good.

Would a 92mm fan with 3 L1A's be good? I think I might buy a dvd burner in 6 months or so and I wouldn't have room for a 120mm fan then. I 92mm would still fit though.

if youre gonna go with 92s, might as well get one for intake and exhaust. put the L1As on the side panel .

My case doesn't have a spot for a fan on the side panel.

This is my case (That is NOT my site)
http://www.patik.com/computer/case.jpg

only 80mm fans will fit in those purple holders.

you can punch a couple holes in the side with a 3.5" hole saw. im pretty sure you can rent them at home depot or lowes. not hard to do, i put a couple in my side window. youll need to layer the window with about 5 layers of masking tape to safegaurd against chips and such. put on your tape, get a fan grill and mark where your screw holes will go, draw a line from one hole to another, to form an X...the center of the X will be where the arbor bit goes to guide the saw . put a block of wood under the window to guide the arbor bit. not a hard task to do, you just have to pay attention to detail.

I really wouldn't feel comfortable doing that. I appreciate the help.

This is what I am planning on getting...

3x Panaflo 80mm L1A Fans (2 will blow out / 1 will blow in)
1x Panaflo 80mm H1B Fan (For my heatsink)
1x Panaflo 92mm L1A Fan (blow in)

Does that sound good?

Alright - Thanks for the help.

I think I will be ordering that stuff and a mobile 2600+ in the next couple days. I might try the L12 mod after I get the 2600+.

see how far your desktop 2500+ will go before you order a new processor, it might go pretty far. just a thought....does spending another $100 justify the 100-200MHz increase in highest attained clockspeed? see what you have first before you buy , you may be surprised.

I think 11x210 is pretty much the max. Windows doesn't load if I do 11.5x210. I think around 2300mhz is my max. Maybe I can do better with my new fans.

I was planning on selling this processor after I had the new one up and running. After I sold my current cpu, I think I would only be down around $35.

whats the stepping of your CPU? it should be on the black label on the PCB of the processor. if you can, please post the whole stepping.

Is there any way for me to check without taking it out? Is there a program that could tell me what it is?

Is it a good one?

Also, I was thinking about the L12 mod and I think I'm going to do it. I found a guide, but it said only to do the L12 mod with mobiles and tbreads (No bartons!). I found some other guides, but they don't say what kind of proccessor. Do you have a link to one that would be good for me? Thanks for the help!!!!!!!!

your stepping should be a very good one, 2500MHz isnt out of the question, the best desktop bartons are AQUCA0302 through AQUCA0304 and AQXEA0331 through AQXEA0334 . from various other results ive seen, chips with your stepping usually hit 2400 to 2500MHz . youre in good shape. dont assume it will go that high though, take it slow!

Ok, thanks for letting me know.

What about the L12 question I asked in my last post?

Thanks once again for the help.

you shouldnt need to do the L12 mod to a 333FSB CPU, however, the 266FSB CPUs will need it for higher FSB. the L12 mod makes the CPU default to 333FSB instead of 266FSB.
