P4P900 Deluxe or no Deluxe?
What is the difference between a Asus P4P800 and a Asus P4P800 Deluxe. The Deluxe is only 25 more dollars. The only difference that I can see right off is that the deluxe has - IEEE1394 Which I have no idea what that is.

The Deluxe has a few more raid options than the P4P800 The IEEE 1394 is firewire. If you don't need the IDE raid and firewire the P4P800 is fine.

The IEEE 1394 firewire is for connecting components like a camcorder.
.....a firewire PCI card can cost about $25 itself, I'd go with the Deluxe so you have that option already ready in case you need it. I ended up buying a non-deluxe version and had to buy a firewire PCI card. I didn't think I'd need a firewire connection when I was building my computer, then a month afterwards the wife asked if I could transfer some of the video tapes to a DVD disc.... |
