Can a faulty psu cause RAM to fail memtest86???
I posted last week after having experienced random crashes, restarts, and blue screens. I had figured that the cheap psu was the problem as all of the voltages were quite a bit off.
As recommended, I ran memtest86 Sunday night. It came up with over 1600 errors, so I RMA'd the RAM with newegg. I installed the new psu yesterday. Just for the heck of it, I ran memtest86 again, and let it do 3 passes. Not a single error came up! Could the faulty psu cause the ram to be flaky and fail memtest86?? Also, no crashes or BSOD's since installing the new psu. (Not to mention how much quieter it is!) Either way, I've got another 256 megs of RAM coming from newegg. (I guess there's worse problems to have!) |

yes, a poor quality power supply can and does cause all the symptions you had.
you will see many post that brings up that point very often, a great many of the power supplys that come in the lower price cases are of the low quality models and brands, |
