good choice on the mobile.. even if some of the cache was wreaked it shouldn't stop the OC.. the durons OC just as far as the tbreds.. however it does suggest that the chip itself is faulty/damaged and therefore it may well be the reason its not OCing..

where are you getting the 2600-m from? there are loads of places in the UK which sell them now.. i'd suggest however that you buy from cpucity.co.uk as they can guarantee steppings (you want an 'I' stepping), the 2500-Ms they have now are doing v. well.. read the (more recent) reviews there.. 2.7ghz some of them.. on air.. just as good as any 2600-m will do, and cost a little less too

and if you dont want that 2600 chip anymore.. then i could give it a good home? obviously when you have your XP-m up and running.. and i'd pay you a little for P&P.. what do you think?

You really need to examine your reasons for overclocking. By the time you burn out a few processors and buy all kinds of different ram to milk the last bit of speed out of that thing, you could spend a lot less money just buying a fast processor to begin with and running it stock and STABLE. Overclocking these days is not something you do casually, it's strictly a hobby. You must accept the risks and possible financial issues, and when something goes wrong, just suck it up and move on.

Yeah, ill let you know what happens.. you do realise that it is faulty though right?.

and where on CPU city are those processors? i thought that all the "I" steppers were all out of stock, ill get an I stepping from them definatly because i do want 2.5ghz ( especially because my ram will go 250 ) do you have a link?

if you have a link and it will make 2.5ghz or over then i might aswell get one from them instead of excaliberpc.com it will save me a little bit of money too.

Thanks..

p.s if you have AIM/MSN messenger, let me know and maybe we can talk.

EDIT : Nevermind i found the link, it is a different stepping from excaliber pc.. AXMH2500FQQ4C IQYHA0407VPMW.. if these OC just as good, ill get one.. just give me your thumbs up

the 2500-Ms at cpucity are new in stock and haven't been reviewed there yet i dont think.. one guy said 'should do 12X200 at 1.7, but gets HOT HOT HOT after that, atleast with my setup' (may have had a lesser HSF)
and here are some results of OCs of chips with the same stepping from OCforums..

IQYHA 0407 VPMW
(Air, peaboy) (Volcano 7+)

* 1992 MHz at 1.5 volts

-----

IQYHA 0407 VPMW
(THunDA)

* 2530 MHz at 1.725 volts. Idle 35C
* 2310 MHz at 1.55 volts

-----

IQYHA 0407 VPMW
(FatesWarning)

* 2508 MHz at 1.8 volts

IQYHA 0407 VPMW
(Air, Hughhefnar) (Thermalright SP-97, 92mm Tornado)

2531 MHz @ 1.8 volts
2600 MHz @ 1.9 volts
2725 Mhz, 46.5C load

-----

IQYHA 0407 VPMW
(Water, mata2974)
(Koolance system, Swiftech MCW 5002, Mag5, two heatercores)

2802 MHz at 2.05 volts

-----

IQYHA 0407 VPMW
(Air, thegame) (SP-97, 80mm Vantec Tornado)

2640 MHz

-----

IQYHA 0407 VPMW
(Water, madsam) (DTEK TC-4, Chevvy core, Eheim 1250)

* 2750 MHz at 2.05 volts

-----

IQYHA 0407 VPMW
(-=Ambush=-)

No detailed results yet

-----

IQYHA 0407 VPMW
(Water, Dirtybird80) (RBX block, BIX radiator)

No detailed results yet

-----

IQYHA 0407 VPMW
(Air, Tazman2) (SLK 900A, 92mm Tornado)

2600 Mhz at 1.85 volts

-----

IQYHA 0407 VPMW
(Air, fishtanke) (thermalright SP-97, 92mm Panaflo H1A)

* 2675 MHz at 1.9 volts
* 2714 MHz at 1.95 volts

* denotes prime95 stability.. so these are the results you want to be looking at if you want a stable system
also bear in mind some of these are with watercooling.. so the high volts ones you shouldn't be doing..

excaliberpc.com are a US company, and even if they ship to the UK (which i would doubt) the shipping would be costly and things would be difficult if you had a problem..

the other site which gives steppings in the UK is overclock.co.uk (not to be mistaken with overclockers.co.uk)
they currently have IQYHA 0352 MPMW..

these are the results for this chip;

IQYHA 0352 MPMW
(Air, sauria) (2 chips, results of one below) (SLK 800A, Tt SF II)

* 2600 Mhz at 1.8 volts
* 2534 Mhz at 1.825 volts

-----

IQYHA 0352 MPMW
(Strages)

* 2200 Mhz at 1.5 volts, 34C load

-----

IQYHA 0352 MPMW
(jonspd)
2558 MHz at 1.75 volts, 42C load

IQYHA 0352 MPMW
(Air, namgorf) (Thermalright SK7, Tt SF II) (2 chips)

Chip # 1

* 2508 MHz at 1.85 volts

Chip # 2

* 2500 MHz at 1.8 volts

-----

IQYHA 0352 MPMW
(Air, Strages) (Thermalright SP-97, 92mm Tornado)

* 2540 MHz at 1.87 volts, 40C load

-----

IQYHA 0352 MPMW
(IR1)

2420 MHz at 1.7 volts, 40C load
* 2556 MHz at 1.8 volts, 47C load
2620 MHz at 1.8 volts, 42C load

-----

IQYHA 0352 MPMW
(Water, JerMe) (Chevvy core, White Water, Mag 3)

2713 MHz

as you can see.. they are fairly similar.. if you want to be sure, i'd wait for the first couple of reviews of IQYHA 0407 VPMW @ cpucity.co.uk.. and if they are good, then go for it. [this is what i'd do]. it'll probably take a couple of days for them to be received and tested and reviewed.. shame u just missed out on the last lot they were v. good.. but they are both 'I' steppings which is a good sign, and they are the only 2 places which state the stepping so its better than a shot in the dark with the others..
if u cant wait atall, then see what the difference in the price of the shipping is, if its significant then go with the cheapest.. if not, its a tough one to call; your guess is probably as good as mine but i might be edging towards the overclock.co.uk one.. but i dont know anything about the reliability of this site.. although i have no reason to doubt it.

YGPM.

These 2500+ mobiles on overclock.co.uk have the same stepping as the ones that just went out of stock on excaliberpc! ( and on the reviews people were gettin in excess of 2.5ghz ) think ill go for this one... only difference is that the picture of the proc is brown.. the one on Excaliber was green

it doesnt say their unlocked.. but i assume they are.

think ill wait for a review or so..

the 2600+ is the only barton on the cpucity website, it has a setpping of IQYHA0351MPMW.. think ill go for this one.. its out of stock.. but if i order now the stock gets back in on the 25th.. so ill perorder now

I preordered the 2600+ barton mobile.. should be here on monday.. hopefully sat if they send stuff then or not.. since they will get stock friday (25th)

I been lookin around, i found this site that they are talking about the same stepping

http://www.hardcoreware.net/forum/sh...t=15692&page=6

11x200 1.575Vcore pretty impressive if this is true, hope that their talking about the barton version here.

if it will do 2.4ghz at 1.575 im hoping it will do 2.5 at 1.7v... as long as the stepping stays the same when they get new stock

11x200 is 2200mhz.. the mobiles are only barton.. atleast above 2200xp-M or something.. and they overclock better than a regular 2600 (tbred or barton) so it would be even more 'amazing' if it were a t-bred.
2.5 ghz u'd be lucky to get at 1.7.. 1,8 is more likely. also dont forget even with the same steppings they aren't 'exactly' the same.

and i sent you a PM so if you could reply that'd be great..

so i should cancel the 2600+ barton mobile.. and get the 2500+ i dont know what you mean..

there has been a review on cpu city of the latest stepping of the 2500+..

"chip potential to reached 2600Mhz with 1.825 v at 13 x 200"

"started slow 200 x 11 okay , 1.6 v prime 95 passed 5 hours
moved to 190 x 13 okay , 1.7 v prime 95 crashed
192 1.750 v prime 95 crashed
193 1.775 v prime 95 stable passed 5 hours"

Think he was using default cooling.. or something so it seems ( because he gets 41C Idle suggests to me that he has stock cooling )

ok.. ill cancel and get one of these

as for cpucitys;
he has a shuttle, one of those PCs the size of a toaster.. so its not going to have such good cooling [his case temp is 33]193x13 would be 2509mhz.. and with 1.775v.. fairly good.. u probably dont want to go over 1.85 (dont want to fry another cpu) but from the info of that one you may get 2.6ghz at or just below 1.85v..

any CPU which you pre-order and isn't in stock, you wont know what the stepping is.. it may be the stepping of the last batch they had it on the site. therefore i wouldn't advise getting any on pre-order as you dont know what your getting.. having said that even a crapshot with the XP-m is likely to be good anyway.
personally i'd just get the 2500m @ cpucity.. looks good

obviously make sure u buy a mobile and not just a regular desktop athlon XP.
eg. i sometimes say 2600 when i mean 2600-m

I cancelled the 2600 on overclock, went for the 2500+ mobile.. on cpucity, it seems to be the most popular selling product anyway, should like my FSB there at 250mhz

"1 x AMD ATHLON XP-M 2500+ SKT-A OEM BARTON (Mobile)Unlocked (1) = £66.74 (Inc.VAT)
£56.80(Ex.VAT)"

Should be here friday, tomorow if their good with next day delivery.. ( hopes to get no trouble with it )

and i havent put arctic silver 3 on my cpu yet so its running normal thermal paste on the SLK900 u, and i recently put 2 side case fans in.. i run 38-40C idle with this chip at 1.85V (wanted to see how the temps were after raising the voltage)
Should be 2-3C lower with that other thermal paste.. i doubt id even need to go that high with the mobile so i have nothing to worry about

Sorry for the double post.. (but MB26, and maybe some others will see it better this way) my processor will be here monday anyways..

it seems that my sound messes up in games at 215FSB aswell, it seems to love 200fsb though as i get no trouble with it.. so is this definatly the processor? i cant really think of what else.. it cant be the southbridge? can it?

the processor is definately a problem, weather there is another problem aswell, we wont know until you get the new processor. i'd expect its just the processor.

Tin still thinks that the sound problem is to do with the South bridge, he thinks i put to much AS3 on the chip under the HS for it.. i scraped as much as i could off with a bit of wet paper and my finger ( that got sore! ) didnt have anything else to rub it off with.. i got most of it off with little dry bits here and there.. and applied a really thin layer and went over it with a bit of paper 3-4 times to make it as thin as possible.. so now ill see what happens..

does ne 1 know if it displays the NB temp on winbond hardware doctor?? all i see is SYSTemp and CPUTemp...

ill leave wolfenstein running for a while, while i get some sleep.. very tired.. yawn
