I would go with no less than 512, but get a gig if you can afford it. Try to get two sticks of the same memory so that you can run in dual channel mode, which will give you a performance boost. Corsair, Crucial, Geil, Kingston, and Mushkin are all good brands.

Both boards support Hyper Threading. The only difference as far as I can think that matters is that the P4C800-E Deluxe uses i875 chipset with PAT enabled, whille P4P800-E Deluxe uses the i865PE chipset - still a minor difference.

The 9800 Pro should be able to do those things quite well. If you don't mind spending $400+, the x800 or 6800 would be good choices as well
.

KVR is fine, but you want PC3200, or faster if you're going to overclock.
You don't need a sound card, but I find that the audio quality is much better with one. The Audigy 2 cards are great. I have one in my system. |

The RAM you linked to is PC2700. If you use that, you will not be using your system to it's full potential. Get PC3200.
I didn't really express myself well in my previous post, KVR is okay to overclock with, as Tin Canary showed us with a little "experiment" he did and pushed some KVR pretty hard. But in general, if you want to overclock a P4C, you're going to want PC3500 (or faster), and some "overclocking" RAM like Corsair XMS or Kingston HyperX. |

Yes that RAM is good too.
PC2700 runs at 333MHz, which is really 2x166 (because it is DDR RAM). PC3200 runs at 400MHz or 2x200. Your CPU's FSB runs at 800MHz, which is really 4x200, because the P4's are quad-pumped. So, if you run PC2700 RAM in the system with a P4C, the CPU's FSB will be set at 166 in the BIOS to match the RAM. This is not taking full advantage of your system. If you use PC3200, you set the FSB to 200, to match the RAM, and you have your RAM running at it's full 400MHz, and your FSB running at it's full 800MHz. |

Hard Drive, yes - better seak time. Speakers, yes - have them hooked up right here and working like a charm
. Graphics card, yes - but you could get the Sapphire Radeon 9800 Pro for 198 USD...pretty much the same thing. The best buy one should be on sale...wonder why it saids 229.99 USD, since its retail is originally 249.99 USD...Hope that helps, kram |
