Sapphire have a few different cards in the 9800Pro series, one of which is 128-bit, which would make a difference in performance, do you have a link to where you are buying them?

Sapphire only has one Radeon 9800 Pro - the other one was discontinued/renamed. Have the link in Page two of this thread.

btw how much does the ATI cost u ? i like nvidia more and its almost always cheaper.. im planning on getting this one (today prolly):
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...150-051&depa=0
and tin canary is gonna teach me how to overclock it to a 5950 ultra, so no doubt its gonna beat your ATI once i do it, and i think the 5900xt and a regular 9800 are pretty much the same speeds.. and about the manufacturers, nvidia does the same, see, the one im going to buy is an XFX one, they get the main chip from nvidia, and they make the card themselves, same thing with ATI, only ATI is abit more strict, from what i hear.

To answer your question on the previous page, PFC is Power Factor Correction. This allows efficient distrobution of power. There are two types of PFC, Active and Passive. Active PFC uses circuits to correct the power, while Passive PFC uses capacitors to correct power.

Well, it's best to stay with the retail stock card, as how it comes. Though that trick doesn't seem to fail, there are tricks that fail and ruin the card. Flashing the BIOS, for one, does void the warranty and such, where the manufacturer will no longer provide support for the card. There are tricks on the ATI side - that Sapphire Radeon 9800 Pro, which has an R360 Core, I think, can be flashed to the equivelant R360 Radeon 9800 XT with 128MB onboard - the best card in its generation. However, remember that it does void warranty, and I wouldn't recommend it myself.

Hope that helps,
kram

What about fans? I'm using this case
X-Blade Extreme
Should I purchase more fans to put in myself or should I let them do it? And what brands are good for fans?

As you see, that is a Prescott Core processor. The difference is that the Prescott Core boasts a 1MB L2 cache - so better efficiency and speed. However, in order to do that, Intel had to lengthen the pipeline architecture - tasks have to go through more processing before it's processed. Adding cache means generally that heat adds up. So performance is about analogous to the Northwood Core, but runs hotter. I'd say Northwood is the better way to go. And I don't think you'll need 400 Watts...what's your update sys specs?

Hope that helps,
kram

You no those lights that flicker with bass from sounds? How do they work because I was thinking of adding them to my case. And How many fans does that case come with, I thought it only came with 2.

I haven't noticed any noise from my LiteOn drive, but maybe that's because it's under my desk, and I usually have some sort of music or sound coming from my speakers.

Looks like a nice build. You should be very happy with it.

One intake fan at the front and one exhaust fan at the back should be fine to cool your system.

Oh, I wanted to add 2 more just in case those fans arent high quailty because I never bought from xoxide.com. Plus, I'm putting about $1,400 into this thing so I dont want ANY surprises down the road.

didnt it say it also comes with one for the window side ? w/e.. and i have a liteon CD-BURNER, since i dont use it much i dont think its noisy, and whenever i burn a cd i cant really hear it, it could be because its under my desk, if u have time, in about 2-3 weeks ill be in israel with my new case and psu, rebuilding my comp to that new case.. and then, since ill buy a mid-tower one with cool colors and such :-P ill put it on my desk next to the monitor, so then ill be able to hear if it really is noisy or not. i dont think its extremely noisy, if ure getting it as a burner and u dont use it much.. then u dont have to worry about it at all..

hope that helps :-P
