Asus P4c800 E-deluxe Usbpw78 Headers Do Not Work!
I'm been having problems with my USB Headers. ON the Asus board, there are two sets of USB Headers that USB peripherals can hook up to....
The USB Headers are labeled as USBPW78 and the USBPW56. I recently bought a Mitsumi internal flash card reader and I tried to plug it into USBPW78 and it doesn't work, but when I plug it into USBPW56 it works like a charm... the funny thing is that I used to have the four port USB that Asus supplied into the motherboard into the USBPW78, but now I tried to plug it in now, it doesn't work! This is strange! I even reset the CMOS.... still no luck! Hope this isn't confusing you guys |

Well, it sounds to me like you may have a dead USB header, maybe something faulty casued it to fail but I find this unlikely as you'd probably lose all your USB headers.
Have you got any USB devices with power LED's on them that you could plug into that to verify that the header has got a supply?

It sounds like the header on the motherboard has lost power to that header then, just to double check, go into your BIOS settings and ensure that the USB settings are all enabled and correct.
In my opinion your looking at a new motherboard or not using those ports. What's probably happened is that you've got a faulty USB device that's been connected via that header and blown the header out. Ensure that you get your USB devices checked out otherwise you may run the risk of damaging the other header. Visualy inspect the connectors on the devices and cables to ensure the pins are OK (not bent or damaged). Hope this is of some help D |
